The job centres on delivering quality parts on schedule, so a solid grounding in machining, manufacturing and inspection is essential.

  • Review and approve First Article Inspection and CID implementation.
  • Own the Operator Verification Plan and run periodic training to close gaps.
  • Drive Measurement System Analysis as part of the quality management system.
  • Continuously improve quality processes and policies, and coach staff in using them.
  • Build and manage relationships with key customers, and manage interactions with military and commercial customers and regulators.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, explain sensitive issues, build consensus and lead larger projects with moderate risk.
  • Assess internal and external business challenges, recommend best practice, and use data analysis and sound judgment on complex problems, drawing on several internal sources and a few external ones.
  • Set priorities that meet business needs and customer satisfaction, keeping quality products on time.
  • Lead analytical and design work using proven technologies and methods.
  • Work alongside the Rutland team at every level.
  • Work flexible hours, including any or varied shifts the business requires.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or a high school diploma or GED plus at least 10 years of quality and quality management experience.
  • At least 5 years of quality and quality management experience.
  • Desired: proficiency in advanced quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP.
  • Desired: formal training in structured problem solving methods such as APPS, Kata or 8D.
  • Desired: a record of analysing problems, finding root causes and delivering efficient fixes, with strong analytical skills.
  • Desired: excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Desired: knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Desired: Six Sigma, CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or a similar certification.
  • Desired: experience in aerospace, automotive or other high-precision industries.
  • Desired: familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100 or other relevant quality standards.
  • Desired: humble, respectful, receptive, agile and eager to learn.
  • Desired: transparent, sharing critical information, speaking with candour and contributing constructively.
  • Desired: focused, quick to learn, strategic about priorities and committed.
  • Desired: a strong leader who communicates well, makes decisions and works collaboratively.
  • Desired: a problem solver who is analytical, challenges existing processes and thinks critically.
