Description

The company is adding a Project Manager to support growth in its Modifications and Upgrades business.

You will be the customer's main point of contact during project delivery, keeping deliverables within scope, budget and schedule and meeting their expectations.

You coordinate communication across project teams, which include customers, engineers in electrical, controls, mechanical and software, manufacturing, vendors, installation crews, subcontractors and integrator partners, so that multiple projects finish on time, within scope and within budget.

You oversee every part of a project, set deadlines, build and maintain schedules, and report progress to management.

Responsibilities

  • You will typically lead 3 to 5 projects at once, with average-complexity scopes at various customer sites.
  • Build and maintain strong, valued relationships with customers.
  • Take projects from sales into operations and run the project kickoff meetings.
  • Review the contract requirements for each project.
  • Create and maintain a project schedule, shared internally and externally, so tasks finish on plan.
  • Meet with engineering managers to assign resources.
  • Work with procurement to issue and manage vendors and subcontracts.
  • With the customer, project teams and integrator partner, set milestones, billable deliverables and the invoicing schedule.
  • Keep the customer informed of project status on a steady basis.
  • Hold regular design review and status update meetings.
  • Spot project risks early and manage them with practical mitigation plans.
  • Forecast monthly costs for revenue recognition, make sure invoicing is timely and accurate, review project profitability and report status regularly.
  • Direct the project team, assigning individual responsibilities, tasks and technical functions.
  • Direct subcontractors as needed and coordinate their work with company team members.
  • Arrange shipment of materials to project sites and verify their receipt.
  • Obtain permits where needed.
  • Travel to project sites to meet the customer and team, check status, coordinate activities and give direction.
  • Write implementation, testing, acceptance and go-live plans.
  • Raise issues clearly, develop resolutions and negotiate change orders when needed.
  • Complete as-built documentation and deliver it to the customer.
  • Close out project finances fully and hand the project over to the support organization.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, one-on-one meetings and other scheduled department meetings.
  • Complete annual training and certification requirements.

Requirements

  • A degree in business, construction management, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A basic understanding of mechanical systems in material handling equipment, including how a whole facility's flow runs through its subsystems and operations, and a basic understanding of controls.
  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience, including 3+ years of successful project management.
  • You can juggle multiple tasks and perform well in a high-growth, deadline-driven setting.
  • You are willing to travel for business within the continental US and Canada, between 35% and 50% of the time, and to travel on weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the MS Office Suite and proficiency in Microsoft Project.
  • You can read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Experience in logistics or manufacturing/automation is a plus but not required.
