Project Manager (IS)

Description

The company is hiring an experienced IT Project Manager for its Portfolio and Programme Delivery team in Northampton.

The role covers technology and business projects that support the company's continued growth. You will take a project from start to finish, bringing together people from across the business to turn ideas and requirements into delivered work.

The company is a FTSE 100 joinery business with more than 900 depots across the UK, more than 11,000 staff and sales of around £2.3bn last year. It still operates locally and has a strong entrepreneurial culture with a commercial, fast-moving pace.

The job suits someone who likes working through detail, spotting dependencies and risks, and finding practical ways to keep delivery moving with different teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own projects from initial planning through implementation to close.
• Agree with sponsors, stakeholders and delivery teams what success looks like, then build a clear route to it.
• Create realistic plans covering timescales, resources, budgets, milestones and dependencies.
• Bring Technology and wider business teams together so everyone knows the priorities and next steps.
• Monitor progress, budgets, risks and issues, and act early when delivery is at risk.
• Keep stakeholders updated with clear, useful reports.
• Handle changing requirements and priorities while keeping the overall goals in view.
• Work with technical teams, resource managers and suppliers to resolve challenges and clear blockers.
• Ensure projects have suitable governance and documentation without losing sight of delivery.
• Record lessons learned at close and look for ways to improve how projects are delivered.

Requirements

• Bring people together, build strong relationships and take confident ownership of delivery.
• Two to five years' experience in a project management role.
• A current project management qualification such as APM PMQ, APM PPQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMI PMP.
• A proven record of delivering complex or cross-functional projects.
• A solid grasp of planning, risk and issue management, stakeholder management, change management and project budgets.
• Experience with different project delivery methodologies.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools such as Jira or Confluence.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and MS Project.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with people at every level.
• A practical, organised approach and the composure to handle shifting priorities and problems.
