Description
The company is hiring a project manager, internal title Associate Director, Design & Construction Technology Project Manager, to plan, coordinate and deliver the technology work in its design, construction, renovation, fit-out, relocation and capital projects worldwide.
You will be the main link between the company's capital projects and design and construction teams and the groups covering digital workplace, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, security, service management and external builders, so that technology needs are built in from project start to handover.
The role is based in Barcelona. The company cannot offer relocation support, so apply only if you can work from that location.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technology work for new buildings, office fit-outs, laboratory upgrades, manufacturing support facilities and large renovations, and own IT delivery from feasibility through concept, detailed design, construction, commissioning, go-live and hypercare.
- Collect and write up business and site technology requirements, then run design reviews across network and connectivity, Wi-Fi, digital workplace, meeting rooms, AV, physical security, building technology interfaces and smart building solutions, checking each against enterprise standards and architecture principles.
- Build and keep integrated plans that cover both facilities and IT work, manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues and dependencies, and run governance under DDIT and facilities standards, including status reports, steering committee papers and decision documents.
- Coordinate technology vendors, system integrators, construction partners and service providers, check deliverables against agreed scope and technical standards, track vendor performance, milestones and contract terms, and support procurement, quotes, SOW reviews and change requests.
- Make sure every technology component is tested and working before occupancy, hand over to support and operations teams, lead commissioning, acceptance testing and documentation, and oversee hypercare after occupancy or go-live.
- Act as a trusted technology adviser to the facilities design and construction leadership, build working relationships with capital projects, workplace strategy, facilities management, HSE, procurement, security and DDIT domain teams, and align these groups around project goals and plans.
Requirements
- You have 8 to 12+ years of IT project management experience across global, multi-country and matrix organisations.
- You have a track record supporting workplace, facilities, construction, infrastructure or real estate programmes.
- You have proven experience delivering technology in construction or fit-out projects worldwide.
- You understand building design and construction processes and can turn construction work into technology delivery requirements.
- You have worked with external vendors and system integrators.
- You plan and execute well, manage risk, solve problems in a structured way and pay close attention to detail.
- You communicate clearly, manage stakeholders well, and make sound decisions and negotiate effectively.
- Desirable: experience in facilities, workplace transformation or smart building initiatives.
- Desirable: knowledge of network infrastructure, AV and conferencing technology, physical security systems, workplace technology, building systems integration, or a project management certification such as PMP, Prince2, Agile or an equivalent.
- You bring skills in change management, communication, leadership, negotiation, problem solving, project management, project planning, project risk management, project team management, stakeholder engagement and strategy development.
