You will work alongside systems engineering, cloud and application, test automation, DevSecOps and systems test teams in an Agile software setting.

You will study system capabilities to solve problems involving program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming methods and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in the full software life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, qualification and delivery to customers.
  • Build embedded software on real time operating systems for flight and mission critical systems.
  • Work in Agile Scrum teams on software products across several software baselines.
  • Work at a quick pace with demanding expectations, varied assignments and collaborative teams at every level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 5 years of related engineering experience, or a master's degree in STEM plus 3 years, or a PhD in STEM plus 1 year.
  • Experience across the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience programming in C, C++ and Python.
  • Experience building multi-threaded software for flight critical, safety critical, medical or mission critical real-time applications.
  • Experience with two of these tools: Jira, GitLab, Docker, Fortify or Coverity.
  • Experience with Agile development, embedded system programming, and software integration and testing.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
  • Preferred: familiarity with at least two data interfaces: 1553, 422, 429, Serial, Discrete, Ethernet/IP or Fibre Channel.
  • Preferred: recent work designing, coding, integrating and debugging C++ on real time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity or real time embedded Linux.
  • Preferred: recent work on software architecture and integration with Docker containers and RHEL 8.10 or later.
  • Preferred: knowledge of Docker container networking and container failover.
  • Preferred: ability to read assembly and use CPU documentation to explain behavior.
  • Preferred: ability to find moderate execution defects by reading code alone.
  • Preferred: understanding of how an embedded component fits into a larger software system or architecture.
  • Preferred: ability to document and present architectural components in modeling or diagramming tools.
  • Preferred: familiarity with OS partitions and isolation architectures.
  • Preferred: high-level understanding of architectural requirements for airworthiness certification.

Conditions

Location: San Diego, California or Grand Forks, North Dakota, with a partly hybrid schedule.

Travel: about 10% of the time.

Relocation assistance may be available.

An active Secret clearance is required for start.

The role depends on program funding, and start dates are set after funding is confirmed.

Primary level base salary range: $98,400.00 to $171,000.00, a general guide that depends on scope, experience, education, skills and market conditions.

Applications are expected to stay open about 20 days from the posting date, and may close earlier or later depending on business needs and candidate availability.

Benefits

  • Possible overtime, shift differential and discretionary bonus pay, depending on the position.
  • Annual bonuses that reward individual work and share company results.
  • Long term incentives may apply to vice president and director roles.
  • Health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, paid company holidays, and paid time off for vacation or personal matters.
