Description

Admin Central is building the future of how administrators work across the platform, replacing a scattered set of tools and disconnected AI with one unified experience. The team is moving the company implementations from manual effort to work driven by intelligence built into the platform.

The team builds distributed systems, high-availability usage pipelines, agentic features and event-driven data flows across global product regions, with the goal of keeping enterprise billing accurate at scale. The work involves building from scratch and moving quickly, and it affects thousands of admins every day.

The Software Development Engineer designs, builds and maintains high-performance microservices and data pipelines for the company's Agentic Workflow and Analytics Platform. Admin Central is central to the company's enterprise AI and automation strategy and serves over 700 customer accounts, handling ad hoc and ambient agentic requests through high-throughput analytics and agentic workflows.

This is a hands-on role. You will design multi-agent architectures that deliver enterprise-grade agentic capabilities. You will extend existing agentic workflows, including LangSmith and LangChain integrations, to give deep visibility into agent execution, tool calls and prompt/response chains across global multi-tenant environments. You will also help build a governed deployment layer in which agents handle most configuration, data migration and validation, with people involved at key points.

The company is a Fortune 500 firm and a leading AI platform for managing people, money and agents.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code and deploy production-ready microservices and streaming pipelines for the core analytics and agentic engines of BPO.
  • Build scalable REST and gRPC APIs that integrate with MCP tools, LLM workflows and observability frameworks.
  • Write unit, integration and distributed load tests, and make sure reliability holds end to end through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor, triage and resolve production issues to keep availability high and latency low across customer tenants worldwide.
  • Write clear API specifications, component designs and operational runbooks so the team can scale.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production applications.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in two or more of these languages: Python, Java, Go or Scala.
  • Optional: practical experience with distributed systems, microservice architectures or event-driven pipelines, such as Kafka, Spark, or databases like ClickHouse or PostgreSQL.
  • Optional: experience with RESTful APIs, gRPC or other microservice communication protocols.
  • Optional: familiarity with high-throughput data engines such as Apache Kafka and Spark, and with cloud storage such as AWS S3 and Iceberg.
  • Optional: exposure to LLM application frameworks such as LangChain and LangSmith, or to OpenTelemetry (OTLP) tracing.
  • Optional: hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS infrastructure, and CI/CD tools such as Git, GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Optional: a strong commitment to test-driven development, integration testing and telemetry-based monitoring.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and an eager, adaptable approach to hard engineering problems.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Conditions

Base salary is $148,000 to $222,000 USD in Pleasanton, California, and $123,900 to $222,000 USD in other listed US locations. Pay varies by location and is set by factors such as geography, experience, skills, job duties and business need.

The role may be eligible for the company Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission or bonus, and for annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during hiring.

Flex work: you spend at least 50% of each quarter in the office or with customers, prospects and partners, depending on the role. There is no fixed number of office days, so you set a schedule that suits your work and life. Remote home office roles can also join in-office moments.

The company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records, in line with applicable Fair Chance law.

The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Benefits

  • Eligibility for the company Bonus Plan or a role-specific bonus or commission, and annual refresh stock grants, as part of total compensation.
