Lead Developer

Description

The company's tech community is hiring lead developers for its Helsinki office.

You will oversee the full software development lifecycle, support your team's success, and drive results.

You are an experienced developer who likes hard technical problems and can bring clarity when things are unclear.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the client's first contact for technical questions and delivery quality.
• Coordinate the client's technical and business teams so that different stakeholders collaborate and deliver quality work.
• Build new features that touch front-end apps, back-end servers, and/or databases, and understand what the infrastructure needs to support the team.
• Help the team find better workflows and protect a healthy work-life balance for its members.
• Develop lasting relationships with the client to secure future work together.
• Help the team adopt and follow agile practices.

Requirements

• Broad experience across back end, front end, and ops. Typically, a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience is expected for success in this role.
• Solid grasp of agile project management principles and hands-on experience applying them.
• Prior experience as a team lead and as a consultant.
• Experience working with several client stakeholders to solve complex problems.
• Prior experience with at least one common server-side language. Many current projects use TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js, while Java, Scala, Kotlin, Clojure, and Python also appear.
• Strong knowledge of at least one common client-side language and framework. Web app projects often use TypeScript/JavaScript and React; mobile work uses Swift, Java, Scala, Kotlin, or React Native with TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Skills to build new backend services and adjust CI/CD pipelines when a project needs it.
• Working knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid setup, splitting time between the office and client premises.
