Description

The company's Space Systems sector, Central Region Software Engineering group, is hiring a Principal or Sr Principal Systems Administrator focused on workflow engineering, based in Aurora, Colorado.

The work supports mission-critical systems and is hands-on: you design, build, harden and keep running complex workflows and infrastructure in a highly available classified setting.

The group wants someone who can run Windows and Linux servers, manage Atlassian tools and containers, and handle identity and access systems.

The level, Principal or Sr Principal, is set by the qualifications you bring.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, configure and harden Windows and Linux servers that run critical applications and workflows.
  • Configure, maintain and tune Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket for engineering and operations teams.
  • Design, deploy and run containerized workloads, including Kubernetes clusters and the services around them.
  • Run identity and access services using IPA and Active Directory for secure login and permissions.
  • Write BASH and Python scripts that automate operations, patching and workflow runs.
  • Handle Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, find root causes, and keep technical documentation and runbooks current.

Requirements

  • Principal: a science bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ years with a Master's, or 4 extra years of experience instead of a degree.
  • Sr Principal: a science bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of relevant experience, or 6+ years with a Master's, or 4 years with a PhD; 4 extra years may be considered instead of a degree.
  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance, current and within scope, when you apply, and the ability to obtain and keep SCI approval and access.
  • A current Security+ certification.
  • Hands-on experience administering and configuring Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket, or similar.
  • Experience setting up and configuring containers and Kubernetes in production or mission environments.
  • Strong experience administering Windows and Linux systems, including IPA and Active Directory integration and troubleshooting.
  • Preferred: experience planning and using OS patching strategies and tools across Windows and Linux.
  • Preferred: scripting skill in BASH and Python for automation, integration and workflow orchestration.
  • Preferred: VMware experience with ESXi and vCenter, including provisioning and managing virtual infrastructure.
  • Preferred: VDI experience with products such as VMware Horizon or Citrix, covering design, deployment and support of virtual desktops.
  • Preferred: familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform, and with security hardening best practices.
