Description

This is an Engineer III role in the Cybersecurity R&D group, which sits in the networking business unit and belongs to the Engineering function (job level TCP03).

The group builds and maintains security for the company's routers, switches and firewalls and their operating systems. Its work covers system security features, applied cryptography, security certifications and secure development practices, including using advanced AI models to find and fix vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain security certifications under NIST FIPS 140, Common Criteria and the EU Cybersecurity Resilience Act (EUCRA).
  • Build product security capabilities such as certification gap analysis, risk-based threat modelling, static and dynamic analysis of code and running devices, penetration testing, hardware security assessments and AI-assisted vulnerability management.
  • Evaluate new cybersecurity technologies and bring the useful ones into product security work. Help shape the cybersecurity roadmap, then carry it out.
  • Advise engineering managers, platform teams and product line managers using your domain expertise.
  • Strive for excellence in cybersecurity design and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, cybersecurity or a closely related technical field.
  • Typically 4-6 years of experience.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, both the theory and the practice.
  • Ability to improvise, adapt and overcome as cybersecurity challenges and strategies change quickly.
  • Solid grasp of networking, network security protocols (TLS, SSH, IPsec) and cryptography as built into network products.
  • Significant programming experience in one or more languages: C preferred, Python also used. Rust is a bonus.
  • Hands-on experience taking products through FIPS 140 and Common Criteria certification: gap analysis, product preparation, pre-testing, submission to third-party labs and certificate award.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on the EU CRA.
  • Experience using AI systems for defensive security, such as vulnerability discovery and management, with an understanding of AI governance and keeping humans in the loop.
  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can explain ideas, persuade people and win them over.
