The company works across edge and cloud to help clients manage and act on their data and applications.

This is an onsite role, mainly based at a company office.

The Security POC Engineer sets up and tests proof of concept networking environments, working hands-on in the lab and with customers.

You must configure complex features on company and supported platforms, know at least two test equipment vendors' products well, and turn solution architectures and customer test plans into working environments that meet the stated requirements. Advanced troubleshooting and test plan development are essential. Other work includes customer demonstrations, technical presentations and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, fix and present efficient proof of concept test configurations, based on company solution architectures or customer needs.
• Advise sales teams and customers on whether proof of concept test plans fit the use cases in question.
• Present test methods and results at an expert level, matched to customer technical and business needs, to help reach assigned revenue targets.
• Work with peers and specialist teams to create and present reference test plans that prove key features and show company solutions at their best, shortening sales cycles and supporting revenue.
• Review, negotiate and approve proof of concept test plans that account teams submit, so they fit what the customer needs.
• Plan lab staging time so there is room to refine test plans, adjust configurations, and fix hardware faults or software bugs.
• Run proof of concept visits for account teams, customers and partners, preparing thoroughly, presenting well and handling all technical aspects.
• Stick to every proof of concept and lab procedure, keeping work smooth and engagements completing successfully.
• Earn and retain expert-level certification for the technology you focus on.
• Hands-on lab work is central, along with strong presentation and writing skills, occasional travel, and quickly earning customer trust.

Requirements

• BS degree in engineering, computer science or telecommunications, plus 8-10 years in the networking industry.
• Hands-on experience working directly with customers.
• Thorough understanding of how test plans are built.
• Able to present clearly and write technical material well.
• Experience designing network solutions for the chosen technology area or areas.
• Strong grasp of the majority of security protocols and architectures.
• Skilled at deep troubleshooting.
• Experience using traffic generators such as BreakingPoint, IxLOAD, Cyperf and IxNetwork.
• Linux experience, such as Red Hat/CentOS or Ubuntu, is a plus.
• Experience across these key technology areas:
• Mandatory: stateful firewalling, advanced NAT concepts, IPSec VPN, and L7 security concepts such as IPS, ATP and application-based filtering.
• Service provider: advanced routing, MPLS, IPv6, BGP, plus SP security such as anti-DDoS, RPKI and flow monitoring.
• Data center: EVPN, VXLAN, OSPF, ISIS.

Conditions

Onsite, primarily at a company office.

Occasional travel is required.

Annual base salary of USD 109,000 to 251,000 for roles in Virginia, United States. Actual offers may vary by location, experience, education, training or skill level, and variable incentives may also be offered.
