Description

The company is a global payments business focused on bank payments. Over 100,000 businesses, from start-ups to large household names, use it to collect, manage and send payments through Direct Debit, real-time payments and open banking.

It processes US$130bn+ a year across 30+ countries and covers both recurring and one-off payments. Its platform includes AI tools that help raise payment success and cut fraud, plus connections to over 350 platforms.

The company is headquartered in the UK, with teams and operations in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. It belongs to a wider payments group, a leading European payments and financial services partner for business with global reach.

Responsibilities

  • Many customers arrive through partners such as payment service providers, software platforms and ecosystems that offer bank payments to their own users. You will be the lead engineer on these relationships, from the first call to a live integration and after.
  • You will work with the Partnerships team to qualify deals, run technical discovery, design the integration and bring the partner live. Partner engineers should come to you when something breaks in the sandbox, and you should be able to explain to their commercial team why a design decision matters.
  • Lead technical discovery with current and prospective partners and turn it into a clear solution design using partner APIs such as Embed and Connect.
  • Build demos and proofs of concept that show how bank payments work inside a partner's product.
  • Guide partners through integration, testing and launch, covering webhooks, failure handling and go-live readiness.
  • Work with Partnerships to qualify, shape and close partner deals.
  • Create reusable material such as guides, sample code, Postman collections and integration checklists so future integrations move faster.
  • Stay current on how partners use the APIs with newer tools, including MCP and agentic commerce.

Requirements

  • Essential:
  • Experience as a pre-sales, post-sales or implementation engineer working directly with customers or partners.
  • Hands-on API experience, including working in Postman, reading logs and debugging a failing request.
  • Working knowledge of OAuth, webhooks and common integration patterns.
  • Programming skills in at least one common language.
  • A solid grasp of how APIs and MCP servers work.
  • A Real Advantage:
  • Experience building integrations with payment service providers or platforms.
  • Knowledge of payments, for example Direct Debit, open banking, cards and alternative payment methods.
  • Experience working with platforms or multi-tenant models.
  • Daily use of AI tools in your own engineering work.
  • You are likely to enjoy this role if you enjoy solving problems and digging into detail, learn new systems quickly, ask good questions before proposing answers, and like helping partners grow and build something new.

Conditions

Base salary range is €48,000 - €72,000, plus 30% on-target earnings (OTE).

Pay ranges depend on role, level, location and market data. Until performance can be assessed in the role, pay normally falls between the minimum and the mid-point of the range. Offers reflect experience, interview assessment, budget and parity with colleagues doing similar work.

Benefits

  • Dedicated wellbeing support and medical cover.
  • A meal voucher or a paid lunch when you work from the office, depending on your location.
  • Work away scheme: work from a country other than your country of residence for up to 20 working days in any 12-month period.
  • Adaptive working that lets you fit work around your life.
  • Parental leave for every new family.
  • An annual learning budget that you control.
  • A generous holiday allowance, volunteer days for ERG events, and one day off if you move house.
