Description

The team builds next-generation control systems for power generation plants, where operators need modern ways to view and run the plant while keeping it secure and resilient.

The work covers platform development, user interface design and cyber security, and includes using AI to improve how efficiently plants are run.

The company's gas power business is the setting for this role, with customers who depend on cleaner, more efficient power today.

Responsibilities

• Assess and build technologies for modern control rooms.
• Help design and build the controls and HMI platform that keeps power plants running reliably.
• Create and test control system screens in simulation tools.
• Help put security controls and good practices into operational technology systems.
• Collect and review stakeholder feedback to guide control and platform design and security upgrades.
• Help write documentation, templates and standards for customer operations.
• Look for ways to bring newer technologies into control systems.
• Evaluate computing options for generative AI features in control systems.

Requirements

• Recent graduate holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering or another STEM field.
• 0-1 year of related experience in engineering or a STEM field.
• Desired: experience with HMI design and programming, or with computer platforms, network devices or cyber security.
• Desired: interest in control systems, UI design, operating systems and hypervisors, network architecture, or cyber security compliance and control implementation.
• Desired: awareness of large and small language models and prompt engineering.
• Desired: familiarity with zero-trust security principles.
• Desired: basic knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus and OPC UA, or of SCADA systems.
• Desired: familiarity with network devices and configurations, such as switches and firewalls.
• Desired: familiarity with design tools or security control principles.
• Desired: awareness of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Conditions

The role is based in Schenectady, NY or Greenville, SC.

For the US-based position, the pay range is $72,000.00 to $108,000.00. In certain areas the company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary. Final pay depends on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
