Description

The company is a Fortune 10 healthcare business that provides insights, products and services to make quality care easier to reach and more affordable.

This role is for a senior developer who treats Salesforce as an enterprise application platform rather than only a CRM. You will be hands-on, designing scalable architectures and high-performance integrations to solve complex business problems with current engineering methods.

You will work across declarative automation, Lightning Web Components, Apex, event-driven designs and Java Spring Boot microservices. You will work with product owners, architects and business leaders to deliver resilient, secure, scalable solutions that support critical operations.

The team sits in the company's medical-surgical distribution subsidiary, a publicly reported segment of the parent corporation, which is expected to be renamed in early 2027. The subsidiary supplies medical-surgical products, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic equipment and related services to nearly every healthcare setting outside the traditional hospital, including physician offices, surgery centers, long-term care, laboratories, home health and hospice agencies, health systems, government facilities, and online marketplaces and retailers.

That alternate care business is growing quickly. It has about 8,000 employees, 15 distribution centers and roughly 900 delivery vehicles. It works with more than 2,200 manufacturers, serves over 200,000 customer accounts across the U.S., and carries more than 270,000 SKUs of branded and private-label products, from bandages to specialty pharmaceuticals and COVID-19 tests.

You will have room to solve hard problems, shape technical direction and improve the engineering practices behind the platform, working alongside engineers who care about architecture, automation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and tune enterprise Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, SOQL and Platform Events.
  • Build scalable Java Spring Boot APIs and microservices that connect Salesforce to enterprise systems.
  • Build dependable integrations over REST, SOAP, event-driven patterns and middleware.
  • Assess what the platform can do and decide when to use declarative configuration and when to write custom code.
  • Lead technical design and code reviews, and set standards for architecture, security, testing, observability and performance.
  • Create reusable frameworks, components and patterns that make developers more productive and the platform easier to maintain.
  • Work with business stakeholders to turn strategic goals into scalable technical solutions, and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
  • Coach engineers through code reviews, architecture guidance, pair programming and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead DevOps practice across source control, automated testing, CI/CD, release automation and environment management.
  • Keep improving platform reliability, scalability, developer experience and delivery speed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of designing and building complex applications on the Salesforce platform.
  • Advanced skill in Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL/SOSL, Salesforce Flow and platform architecture.
  • Solid experience building and supporting production APIs and services in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Deep knowledge of Salesforce security, sharing models, data architecture, governor limits and integration patterns.
  • Experience designing for scale, maintainability, fault tolerance and performance.
  • Working knowledge of Git, automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practice.
  • Proven record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring other engineers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience on Agile, product-focused engineering teams.
  • Communicate complex technical ideas clearly to engineering teams, product partners and business stakeholders.
  • Work across functions, build trusted relationships, and help create an inclusive team where people feel safe to speak up.
  • Take ownership and show sound judgment and accountability from solution design through production support.
  • Approach ambiguity with curiosity, structured problem-solving, adaptability and a habit of continuous learning.
  • Balance technical quality with business priorities, customer impact, delivery commitments and practical trade-offs.
  • Give and receive constructive feedback, coach peers with empathy, and influence decisions respectfully.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Preferred: Salesforce certification such as Platform Developer I or II, Application Architect, System Architect or Integration Architect.
  • Preferred: Experience with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud and enterprise-scale Salesforce implementations.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with MuleSoft or other integration and API management platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP and cloud-native engineering practices.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: Experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems and enterprise integration patterns.
