Description

This senior staff role is hands-on technical leadership on the Agentic Applications team in the Enterprise Platform Group, within Commercialization (Quote-to-Cash), based in Mountain View, CA.

You will build first-party, agents-first applications on the company's data platform that handle how the company quotes, orders, bills and recognizes revenue.

You will be the most senior technical voice in a domain that touches every dollar the company books, and you will write code and review designs. This is not a people-management role.

The company is the data and AI company. More than 20,000 organizations worldwide, including adidas, AT&T, Bayer, Block, Mastercard, Rivian, Unilever and 70% of the Fortune 500, use its platform. It is headquartered in San Francisco with 30+ offices worldwide, and its product line spans an AI assistant, agent tooling, data pipelines, a lakehouse, a governance catalog and a database.

Responsibilities

  • Define the target agentic architecture for the quote-to-cash chain: configure-price-quote, deal management, ordering, subscriptions, investments, billing and revenue recognition.
  • Lead the shift from vendor-configured workflows to AI-native applications built on the company's app framework, database, governance catalog and AI tooling.
  • Design and ship LLM-powered agents for deal guidance, quote generation and summaries, multi-option proposals, approval insights, and pricing and discount recommendations.
  • Work with sales, Deal Desk and Finance to define what a good result looks like for each workflow.
  • Own the evaluation and quality system: quality criteria per workflow, offline eval suites, LLM-as-judge and human-labeled benchmarks, regression tests in CI/CD, online tracing, and feedback loops based on what users approve, edit and reject.
  • Build the line between what an agent proposes and what gets committed, including diff-based review, approval routing, audit logs and policy guardrails.
  • Decide when an agent may act alone and when a person must approve, especially for pricing, discounts, contract terms and order creation.
  • Design tool-calling and MCP-style interfaces so agents get governed, real-time access to pricing, catalog, order, contract, subscription and billing data.
  • Keep the systems of record consistent across CRM, ERP and billing.
  • Make sure agent-assisted quotes and orders are accurate and compliant downstream, in validation, billing, invoicing and revenue recognition, where errors affect financial reporting.
  • Bridge today's production quoting platform and the target architecture, sequencing the migration so the business keeps scaling and deciding what to retire, rebuild or wrap.
  • Lead architecture reviews, set design patterns for agents (orchestration, memory, retrieval, tool use, multi-agent coordination), and mentor senior and mid-level engineers.
  • Work with Finance, Deal Desk, Sales Ops, Legal and the wider Platform engineering org, turning complex commercial processes into technical roadmaps with measurable business results.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, with a record of technical leadership and owning large production systems.
  • 3+ years building and running LLM-powered or agentic applications in production, including agents, RAG, tool use, multi-agent orchestration (LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, DSPy or equivalent) and evaluation frameworks for generative output.
  • Strong backend and distributed-systems skills: API and service design, data modeling, idempotency, consistency, transactional integrity and observability.
  • Proven record designing human-in-the-loop systems: approval workflows, review interfaces, audit trails and guardrails for probabilistic systems in regulated or high-stakes areas.
  • Experience leading architecture in complex business domains, ideally quote-to-cash, order-to-revenue, billing, pricing or other revenue-critical enterprise systems.
  • Full-stack fluency across React/TypeScript, backend services in Python, Java, Scala or Go, and data platforms.
  • Ability to work directly with non-engineering stakeholders and turn unclear business workflows into agent and system architecture.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving execution across a team without relying on formal authority.
  • Domain experience with CPQ, deal management, subscription management or revenue recognition in a high-growth SaaS or consumption-based business.
  • Experience building first-party applications on, or as replacements for, enterprise SaaS platforms such as Salesforce CPQ/Revenue Cloud, NetSuite or Zuora.
  • A plus, but not required: hands-on configuration expertise on those platforms.
  • Experience with the company's platform, including its app framework, Unity Catalog, Mosaic AI Agent Framework and MLflow tracing and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with SOX controls, audit requirements and financial-systems compliance.

Conditions

Zone 1 pay range: $233,900 - $321,650 USD, which is the expected range for non-commissionable roles or the on-target earnings range for commissionable roles.

Actual pay depends on job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and work location, and the company expects to use the full width of the range.

The total package may include eligibility for an annual performance bonus, equity and the benefits listed.

The company is committed to fair and equitable pay. Candidates are considered regardless of protected characteristics, and export-controlled access needs may lead the company to decline an applicant on that basis alone.
