Forward Deployed Engineer

Description

The forward deployed engineering team is a small, customer-facing software group that works with the company's largest strategic customers to design, build and put into production new data and AI solutions.

The role suits engineers who like working alongside customers and teammates and who enjoy keeping up with new developments in data, applications and AI.

You will embed with key customers to build custom fullstack applications and solutions on the company's Data Intelligence Platform and other common software stacks, owning the architecture and the main design calls across data engineering, AI and application development.

The team wants hands-on builders who enjoy working where technology meets business results, with a mix of engineering skill, flexibility, curiosity and a drive to solve hard problems that produce measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Set the architecture and make the main design decisions, keeping solutions secure, scalable and in line with customer needs and the company's best practices.
• Build applications across backend, frontend and integrations that put data and AI in the hands of enterprise users on the platform.
• Take systems from data ingestion and transformation through ML/AI model integration to user-facing applications and team enablement, and get them running in production.
• Work inside customer teams with stakeholders ranging from technical individual contributors to executives to understand their problems and deliver results.
• Work with Sales, Product and Field Engineering so the customer experience runs smoothly from pre-sales through post-deployment.
• Create reusable accelerators, frameworks and practices that can be applied across accounts and feed into the company's product roadmap.

Requirements

• Solid software engineering background across backend, frontend and systems integration, with working knowledge of Python, SQL, Java or Scala, JavaScript or TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• A record of designing, building and deploying production applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models and user interfaces.
• Experience connecting AI APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini into applications, and using AI code generation tools to work faster.
• A proven history of delivering technical solutions in enterprise settings that produce measurable outcomes.
• The ability to talk with audiences from engineers to C-level executives and turn complex ideas into workable solutions.
• A willingness to learn quickly, adapt, and explore new technologies, domains and customer problems.
• Ability and interest in travelling up to 50% of the time to client sites as needed.
