Description

The company is looking for people with experience in enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, mainly Strategy (MicroStrategy) developers and architects.

The ideal candidate applies core BI principles to identify, define and document client needs, then decides which Strategy functionality will best meet the customer's short and long-term goals.

You will build supporting metadata objects, reports and dashboards in the latest version of Strategy, and act as the client liaison for ad hoc demos and interactive design sessions.

Strategy is the primary platform, but experience with other BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or Qlik is welcome, since it brings multi-platform perspective to the architecture.

The role mixes analyst, developer and architect work, involves frequent client contact, and is part of a scrum agile team that designs, configures, troubleshoots and develops Strategy products to client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, define and document client BI needs.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on which Strategy functionality best supports short and long-term goals, applying supplemental BI best practices where relevant.
  • Build metadata objects, reports and dashboards in the latest version of Strategy.
  • Act as the client liaison during ad hoc demonstrations and design sessions.
  • Design, configure, troubleshoot and develop Strategy products within a Scrum team.
  • Balance analyst, developer and architect duties across client engagements, drawing on a broad understanding of the BI landscape.
  • Communicate clearly and solve problems with clients and teammates.

Requirements

  • Active US government top secret clearance is required to be eligible.
  • Five years developing and supporting BI applications, specifically Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), including use of the SDK and REST API (mstrio-Py). A mix of at least 3 years in Strategy and 2 years in other BI applications (such as PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau or Cognos) may count toward the five years.
  • Act as the Strategy SME, guiding architecture and finding efficiencies across platform capabilities such as Mosaic and HyperIntelligence cards.
  • Experience with Strategy Workstation or Developer, including dynamic dossiers, report development and project design (facts, attributes, hierarchies, aggregation, portal integration).
  • Experience with Strategy schema definition, design, implementation and maintenance. Proven experience mapping equivalent semantic or enterprise data architecture layers in other enterprise BI suites is an acceptable alternative.
  • Experience reviewing and improving logical and physical database designs, including relational structures, dimensional modeling and data warehousing.
  • Experience building application objects such as metrics, templates and filters.
  • Experience with client-server and cloud-based BI architecture.
  • Experience using SQL to profile, test and report on data.
  • Nice to have: experience configuring, governing, troubleshooting and tuning the Intelligence Server.
  • Nice to have: experience with Strategy Security Administration.
  • Nice to have: experience using Strategy Workstation in place of legacy Developer tools.
  • Nice to have: experience migrating, translating or integrating legacy dashboards and data flows from other BI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau into an enterprise Strategy environment.
