Description

The role sits in the Index Research & Design team within the Equities & Multi-Asset vertical. The team develops, designs, researches and improves index methodologies, analytics and investment solutions.

The company is a global index provider. Its benchmarks, analytics and data products are used by asset owners, asset managers, investment banks, ETF providers and other financial institutions, and its indices underpin trillions of dollars of invested assets.

The team works with Product, Engineering, Technology, Data Operations, Sales and key clients. Work spans research, product development, operational delivery and client engagement across a range of equity and multi-asset initiatives.

This is a manager-level quantitative role. You will move between quantitative research, software development, data quality, operational support and client work, and reprioritise quickly when demands compete. Ownership and a get-it-done attitude matter here, and you will work with Research Analysts, Engineering, Technology, Data Operations, Product, Sales and clients.

Career stage: Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain quantitative research, analytics and automation platforms.
  • Create AI-enabled workflows, tools and agents that improve research, operational efficiency and client support.
  • Support quantitative research, investment analytics and index methodology work across equity and multi-asset strategies.
  • Diagnose and fix complex data, analytics and operational problems without lowering quality or accuracy standards.
  • Improve research infrastructure, development practices, CI/CD and cloud-based solutions.
  • Work closely with Research, Engineering, Technology, Product, Data Operations and Sales to meet business goals.
  • Answer internal and external questions about data, methodologies, analytics and product capabilities, and provide analytical support.
  • Take part in the full research and product lifecycle, from idea generation and data validation to implementation, deployment and client delivery.

Requirements

  • About 10 years of experience in quantitative research, quantitative development, investment analytics or a related field.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD, cloud computing, AI-assisted development tools (for example GitHub Copilot or VS Code) and modern software engineering practices.
  • A solid grasp of equity markets and quantitative techniques such as regression analysis, optimisation, factor investing and risk modelling.
  • Experience with financial data platforms such as Worldscope, IBES, Lipper, Datastream and Refinitiv Workspace is highly desirable.
  • Able to be productive from day one and to handle several priorities at once.
  • Curious, agile and self-directed, with the ability to explain work clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Comfortable with a required skill set that may shift considerably from one day to the next.

Conditions

We are an equal opportunities employer and do not discriminate on any protected basis, and we make reasonable accommodations for religious practices and for mental health or physical disability needs where the law requires.

Benefits

  • Tailored benefits and support, including healthcare, retirement planning, paid volunteering days and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Opportunities to join volunteering and fundraising through the company's charity, the company Foundation, which gives grants to community groups helping people access economic opportunities.
