Description

The Graphics Developer Tools team is looking for a senior technical leader to shape where graphics development goes next. The role covers several parts of the company's graphics software stack, including developer tools, graphics technologies, and new development workflows.

You will start and lead new strategic efforts, working closely with the company Research, GPU Architecture, Driver, SDK, and Developer Technology teams. The work includes assessing emerging technologies, building prototypes, and delivering tools that help developers write, debug, profile, and tune graphics applications. The role is hands-on and depends on vision, execution, influence, and teamwork. Success means strong technical work and the ability to get teams behind ambitious ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction and strategy for next-generation developer tools, workflows, and technologies that raise developer productivity.
  • Design and prototype tools, then take the strong ones toward production-ready software.
  • Work with GPU architects, driver engineers, SDK teams, and graphics developers to learn what they will need and shape product direction.
  • Lead technical initiatives that span several organizations.
  • Mentor engineers and help build engineering standards across the wider Developer Tools organization.
  • Talk with external developers, game studios, engine teams, and strategic partners to learn how they work and where they struggle.
  • Represent the company at industry events, technical conferences, and developer outreach.
  • Help shape how graphics development changes as AI reshapes the way software is built, tuned, and maintained.

Requirements

  • A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years building graphics software, developer tools, game engines, GPU technology, or similar systems.
  • Deep knowledge of modern graphics APIs such as DirectX, Vulkan, or Metal.
  • Strong C++ skills and experience building large software systems.
  • A record of leading complex projects across several teams.
  • Experience designing software architectures and steering technical direction beyond one codebase.
  • Strong communication skills for working with engineers, researchers, product staff, and external developer communities.
  • A track record of working well with unclear goals and turning ideas into shipped products.
  • Bonus: expertise in GPU architecture, memory systems, performance analysis, or graphics debugging.
  • Bonus: experience with ray tracing, neural rendering, or advanced rendering techniques using Vulkan or D3D12.
  • Bonus: experience building profilers, debuggers, validation tools, or SDKs.
  • Bonus: experience applying machine learning or generative AI to software development workflows.
  • Bonus: contributions to game engines, graphics middleware, graphics SDKs, or open-source graphics projects.

Conditions

Base salary depends on location, experience, and other objective job-related factors. The expected base salary range is $272,000 to $431,250 USD.
