Java Developer

Description

The company is hiring a Java Developer, graded Apps Dev Intermediate Programmer Analyst - C11, to join the technology team and help build and improve the company's core software platform.

This is hands-on engineering work: you build and maintain Java applications that support financial services operations, with room to make your own decisions and work with technology and business colleagues.

The role sits in the Technology group, Applications Development job family.

Responsibilities

• Add features and improvements to the platform using Core Java 8, the Spring Framework and RESTful APIs, strengthening its capability and stability.
• Take components from analysis and coding through testing and release, then support them in production.
• Find security weaknesses in applications and fix them through methodical debugging and testing.
• Write and tune SQL queries, stored procedures and database objects so data access stays fast.
• Use Maven, Jenkins and SonarQube in continuous integration to keep code quality high and releases smooth.
• Work with business users and technology colleagues to find the cause of problems, propose engineering fixes and support live systems.
• Weigh risk in technical decisions so that solutions meet compliance standards and client-facing systems stay reliable.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on Java or J2EE development, including work in financial services or a comparable technology environment.
• Strong Core Java 8 skills and working knowledge of the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Core, Spring MVC and Spring JDBC, plus practical use of JDBC, JPA and ORM frameworks.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful web APIs, with a solid understanding of JSON data exchange.
• Working SQL skills, including writing and optimizing queries, stored procedures, indexes and triggers.
• Familiarity with Ant or Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube and JUnit for unit and integration testing.
• Ability to analyse systems, find solutions and deliver results under pressure while managing shifting priorities and deadlines.
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical discipline.

Conditions

This is a full-time position.

The salary range for the primary location is $79,320.00 - $110,680.00.
