IT Software Engineer - RDT Engineering Excellence & Experience

Description

The company is a healthcare organisation, and this role sits in its RDT Engineering Excellence & Experience group, building and maintaining digital solutions for global healthcare work.

You will work at project level in cross-functional agile squads, doing hands-on full-stack development and following solid engineering practice across the whole delivery cycle, from technical analysis and feature design through to automated deployment and ongoing operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain resilient microservices and responsive web applications in Java, using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript and CSS.
• Write tests with Test-Driven Development, alongside manual and automated testing, so code is reliable, secure and meets enterprise standards.
• Design and tune database schemas and queries on PostgreSQL, and handle data through template frameworks.
• Run delivery end to end with CI/CD pipelines on GitHub, Linux shell scripts and current DevOps tools.
• Help check technical feasibility, clarify requirements, and support procedures that follow Computerized System Validation (CSV) guidelines.
• Use AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Claude to speed up delivery, review peers' code, and help improve practice in internal Communities of Practice (CoPs).

Requirements

• Hands-on experience developing in Java and Python.
• Solid experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL in particular, plus proven experience with RESTful microservices.
• Practical experience with Test-Driven Development, automated unit and integration testing, and clean code principles.
• Working knowledge of Git workflows and Linux/Bash command-line automation.
• Nice to have: exposure to Kotlin, Groovy or Python for specialised development, utility scripts or automation.
• Nice to have: familiarity with configuring the Apache Tomcat application server and rendering with Apache Velocity templates.
• Nice to have: direct experience setting up and running CI/CD deployments with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD.
• Nice to have: skill with AI developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or comparable coding assistants, used to raise quality and output.
• Nice to have: hands-on experience configuring Codebeamer, including custom fields, workflows and state transitions.
• Nice to have: basic business analysis experience, especially around CSV procedures and regulatory compliance in healthcare or pharma.
• Nice to have: experience combining automated test suites with structured manual testing for edge-case checks.
• You can analyse complex business logic, assess technical feasibility and propose sound solutions on your own.
• You are comfortable in cross-functional squads, give and take constructive code feedback, and keep technical documentation clear.
