Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy and run business-critical features that add value for customers.
• Own day-to-day operational excellence, including metrics, observability and engineering best practices.
• Spread good practices and mentor engineers in your team and across Engineering.
• Help raise the bar on quality, excellence and agility in how the team delivers.
• Build back-end services in Node.js and TypeScript on AWS, choosing the stack for each requirement, and connect them to customers' CRM, helpdesk and e-commerce tools.
• Write, test and monitor your code in production on your own, reliably.
• Work with product managers, designers and engineers to deliver pragmatic solutions end to end.
• Design secure, scalable, high-quality solutions with your team and own how they are delivered.
• Learn the business well enough to shape solutions for users and clients.
• Mentor colleagues and help grow technical skills across the teams.
• Track new technologies and architectures and judge where they fit.

Requirements

• 4+ years of back-end development in TypeScript and Node.js, Python, Ruby/Rails or other languages, with a focus on security, scalability, availability and performance.
• Extensive production experience with AWS, preferably on high-volume, high-availability services, and you know how to design for the platform and get the most from its services.
• Frontend experience is a big plus, preferably with React.
• You value simple code, quality, performance and maintainability.
• You design simple, pragmatic architectures that work at scale.
• You communicate clearly and proactively with people in different roles.
• You do not need to know the full stack or every functional area, but you should be keen to learn and adapt quickly.
• Our stack includes TypeScript and Node.js, Python, REST and GraphQL APIs, Ruby on Rails, React, AWS Serverless or EKS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, OpenSearch and Redis.
