Freelance Fashion Designer (Speculative)

Description

The company is a fashion brand that is always looking to connect with freelance fashion designers, and it welcomes speculative applications, meaning there is no specific open role attached.

The team is interested in designers at every career stage, with particular interest in senior creatives, design managers and heads of design across menswear, womenswear and accessories.

As a freelancer you would help develop concepts, explore design directions, refine products and bring your own perspective to the collections.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to concept development and design exploration.
• Refine products and shape the collections with your own vision.

Requirements

• Show a strong aesthetic that fits the company's design philosophy: modern, brand-relevant and effortless design.
• Work with silhouettes and innovative construction, and understand fabric, technique and detail.
• Have proven design experience in womenswear, menswear or accessories.
• Have experience in contemporary, premium or luxury fashion.
• Translate brand identity into commercially relevant design.
• Provide a portfolio covering concept development, research and mood exploration, technical sketches and garment details, and final product or collection outcomes, along with your work with materials, textures and sustainable design.
• Sketch confidently by hand and digitally, and understand pattern cutting and garment construction.
• Use 3D and AI design tools.
• Work to briefs, timelines and feedback, and communicate professionally.
• Have experience working with product development teams or manufacturers.
• Manage your own organisation and workflow across the collection process, including remote work, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Adjust your schedule as needed to collaborate efficiently with the in-house team.

Conditions

All freelance roles require spending a significant amount of time at the London office and atelier, so regular travel to London is essential.
