Description

The company makes thermal management, mission-critical building systems, and energy efficiency and decarbonization products. These help customers use energy more productively and cut carbon emissions. Its customers include data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing and higher education.

The company has been in business for more than 140 years and combines advanced technology, lifecycle services and a large field organization.

This is a field-based technical pre-sales role supporting fire alarm and life safety system sales in the Phoenix market. You will work with local sales teams, electrical contractors, engineers, architects and customers on new and retrofit projects, helping shape technical solutions, reviewing proposals, preparing quotations and recommending compliant, practical, value-driven systems. The team values customer focus, practical technical support and collaboration across sales and installation.

Responsibilities

  • Offer technical pre-sales help on new and retrofit fire alarm and life safety work across the Boston market.
  • Check incoming proposals from field sellers and electrical contractors, confirm they function as intended, and spot value engineering options.
  • Join sales reps on customer site surveys to assess existing systems and the protection a building needs.
  • Build full quotes, scope documents and cost projections with colleagues inside the company.
  • Give demos and talks on Simplex hardware, alternative interfaces and code compliance changes to end users, engineers, architects, contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Work with Sales and Installation on system layouts, technical requirements and project specifications.
  • Help newer sales reps build product knowledge, an understanding of applications and confidence with customers.
  • Gather project details, pick suitable products unless contracts or customers specify otherwise, and write clear technical recommendations.
  • Advise on fire and life safety regulations, building codes and project-specific code requirements.
  • Set bid timelines with electrical contractors and allocate projects to them.
  • Send a weekly report on Dodge opportunities in Planning, Pre-Planning and Design.
  • Run the company's Contractor Connections program and act as the main contact for key electrical contractors.
  • Spend time on site with customers, contractors and sales teams to understand project needs and conditions.
  • Make routine customer visits as needed to maintain relationships and improve satisfaction.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on technical experience with Simplex or Autocall products.
  • Background in the fire detection industry.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to juggle several priorities with little supervision while keeping a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain things to technical and general audiences.
  • You must live within the assigned Boston territory.
  • Able to make on-site customer visits when needed.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of fire regulations, codes and standards.
  • Understanding of the sales process.
  • NICET Level 2 certification or higher.

Conditions

Field-based role with a specific assigned territory; on-site customer visits are a core part of the job.

Hiring salary range is $89,700 to $140,500, set by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity and market data.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, paid vacation, holidays and sick time.
  • Medical, dental and vision care, plus a 401K, with benefits available from day one.
  • Product training and on-the-job and cross-training opportunities.
  • Collaborative team environment and a safety-first approach through the Zero Harm policy.
  • Sales commission plan that takes project, quarterly and annual margin into account.
  • Full benefit details are in the Employee Benefits section of the company's careers site.
