Senior Solutions Architect

Description

The company combines two data companies, one that moves data into warehouses and one that transforms it with dbt, to support thousands of organizations with analytics and AI work.

The team is building the data infrastructure layer covering data movement, transformation, and trust, and the role is in the Field Engineering team.

You may see both the company and dbt Labs names during recruiting while the two teams, systems, and career sites are merged.

This is a full-time role based in the Boston metro area.

Responsibilities

• Run technical discovery with large enterprise customers, linking their technical needs to business goals and measurable success criteria
• Design enterprise data transformation and analytics architectures using dbt
• Work with Sales to explain the technical and business value of the dbt platform
• Lead customer evaluations and technical validation, including trials and proof-of-value work where it fits
• Build trust with technical practitioners, data leaders, and executives
• Advise customers on technical architecture, security, governance, and deployment
• Support customers through adoption and spot expansion opportunities across the lifecycle
• Share customer and field insights with Product and Engineering to shape product strategy and roadmap
• Develop relationships with technology and consulting partners such as Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS
• Share technical expertise, reusable best practices, and thought leadership with Field Engineering and the dbt community

Requirements

• 4+ years in sales engineering, solutions architecture, consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role in data, analytics, or BI
• Solid grounding in SQL, data transformation, ETL/ELT, and data modeling
• Solid understanding of modern cloud data warehouse, lakehouse, and analytics architectures
• Ability to turn technical and business requirements into concrete solutions and measurable results
• Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining complex topics to technical and non-technical people
• Ability to earn credibility with stakeholders from data practitioners to senior executives
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, changing environment while collaborating with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer teams
• Bonus skills: experience with dbt or analytics engineering
• Bonus skills: experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or other modern cloud data platforms
• Bonus skills: experience with data modeling methods such as dimensional modeling, Kimball, Data Vault, or 3NF
• Bonus skills: experience with enterprise integration or ETL platforms such as Informatica, Boomi, or Talend
• Bonus skills: experience supporting complex enterprise evaluations, migrations, or transformation programs

Conditions

Pay is 80% base salary and 20% variable compensation on target earnings (OTE), with a range of $230,630.87 - $288,288.88 USD.

The displayed range is the minimum and maximum target for new hires at this level and location and may include sales incentives or target bonuses. It may change, and your recruiter can give the range for your location.

Individual pay within the range depends on skills, experience, education or training, business need, and market demand.
