Description

The company changes the spaces where people live, work, learn and play across North America, with a focus on building performance, safety and comfort in healthcare, education, data centers and manufacturing.

Its semi-custom air handling units balance design flexibility with performance and economy. The range covers standard, semi-custom and custom options, so a system can match a building's needs and budget.

This is a senior domain expert role in the air handling business unit. You will lead a team of technical staff who handle the full range of field commercial and technical support, including work that needs special expertise, and you will mentor them along the way.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of application engineers by hiring, coaching and mentoring them, running performance reviews, setting goals, writing individual development plans and building their technical skills.
  • Deliver special quotes to the field sales organization that are on time, accurate and competitive. Balance risk, cost, product capability and customer needs, and cut quote turnaround times.
  • Act as the technical authority on complex applications, especially semi-custom AHU work. Guide compliance with codes, standards and customer specifications, and handle escalated technical problems.
  • Work with regional sales managers and representatives to understand market needs, rank opportunities by strategic value and business impact, and turn customer requirements into workable product solutions.
  • Host customer visits with factory tours and product presentations.
  • Help run training for field sales, both at the factory and in the field.
  • Write and maintain application guidelines, design standards and best practices so that similar requests get the same recommendation across the organization.
  • Find bottlenecks and waste in the quote-to-order process. Build and improve tools, templates, configurators and knowledge databases, and use Lean methods to raise the speed, quality and scalability of engineering support.
  • Work with engineering on efficient solutions for unusual semi-custom AHU applications. Review engineering rules and documents, and propose cost savings and value engineering options.
  • Support the team behind the selection and pricing software by defining requirements, coordinating application engineers, and testing each monthly release.
  • Pass customer feedback to product management and engineering, covering recurring requests, competitive gaps, market trends, and recommended product improvements and new features.
  • Help the airside technical service team resolve field application issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET accredited) or a related science.
  • 5-10 years of experience, with substantial time spent designing, selling or applying air handling units.

Conditions

Hybrid role.

Salary range of $115,000 to $135,000, set by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity and market data.

A bonus plan that considers individual, group and company performance.

Candidates whose background goes beyond the posted range are encouraged to apply.

Minimal travel through the year to support sales and application training.

Technology-assisted tools, including AI, may help screen candidates, but humans make all hiring decisions.

Benefits

  • A bonus plan based on individual, group and company performance.
  • A competitive benefits package.
