Applications Engineer - Industrial Pumps

Description

The company makes pumps, metering and dispensing equipment for moving critical and valuable fluids where performance and reliability matter, and also builds flow meters that reduce waste and downtime.

The team works close to customers and is small enough to make quick decisions.

This role answers technical questions from the sales force and customers about products and services, and reviews engineering specifications to prepare proposals.

Responsibilities

• Advise the sales team and channel partners on product selection, configuration and quoting.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to channel partners and end users.
• Deliver technical training to internal staff, channel partners, and outside groups such as EPCs, consultants and end users.
• Support marketing work, including market literature, trade shows, industry events, product training and customer events.
• Research the market through trade associations, online sources and corporate services.
• Track competitor products and their activity, and report on them regularly.
• Identify market needs for innovative products and pass them to Product Management as development opportunities.
• Follow company processes and policies that apply to the role.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent relevant education and work experience.
• Have 2+ years of experience as an applications engineer with an engineering degree.
• Desired: relevant industry experience with pumps, valves, system design, rotating equipment and similar equipment.
• Learn product details quickly, including operating principles and performance characteristics.
• Communicate professionally with customers on technical matters.
• Select a pump and its accessories to suit an application's requirements.
• Analyze a mechanical system and give technical guidance on operation and troubleshooting.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Stay organized and work efficiently, taking initiative to solve problems and prevent issues before they occur.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and listen well.
• Be a strong team player with a solid work ethic and a commitment to winning.

Conditions

Hybrid work arrangement.

Limited travel is required.

The work is mostly seated with occasional standing or walking. You must be able to lift or carry files up to 10 pounds, read printed material and screens, and hear and speak in person, by phone or on Teams.

The work is mainly in a climate-controlled office, with time on the manufacturing floor, where temperatures change moderately and there are hazards such as noise, flying debris and overhead hazards, requiring proper PPE.

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria in the applicable bonus plan.

Pay depends on job-related factors such as responsibilities, work experience, education and training, location and key skills, and is part of total rewards.
