Description

The company makes material handling, full-scale warehouse operations and custom conveyor design solutions for major clients across several industries. Its DATUM software is a Warehouse Execution System (WES), and this role connects prospective customers with what that software can do for them.

The job is about half customer-facing, covering discovery conversations, technical presentations, demonstrations and trade shows. You will work across Solutions Business Development, Sales, System Engineering, DATUM Development, Estimating, Implementation and Contracts Management to keep opportunities moving. The role suits someone analytical and organized who is comfortable with customers and can turn early requirements into clear technical documents.

The company was founded in 1982 and builds each solution around the client, not from ready-made systems. The team shares ideas and builds on them.

Responsibilities

  • Run technical discovery conversations to learn a prospect's operations, system requirements and goals.
  • Scope DATUM opportunities, covering custom requests, system compatibility and initial project requirements.
  • Act as the technical contact throughout the sales process, giving clear guidance and setting realistic expectations.
  • Give presentations and demonstrations of DATUM's platform, infrastructure and data management workflows for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build Supademo content and maintain the software material used in the DCS demonstration center.
  • Present DATUM at remote and in-person trade shows and answer technical questions there.
  • Work with Sales, Solutions Business Development, System Engineering, DATUM Development, Estimating and Implementation to produce accurate pricing and proposals.
  • Pass insights from discovery, scoping and pipeline inquiries to the DATUM research and development teams.
  • Draft commercial agreements with the Principal of Software and DCS Contracts Management.
  • Write level one Software Design Specifications for internal review, and handle the move to level two documentation during detailed design.
  • Produce internal technical guides and customer-facing knowledge base articles that make DATUM easier to understand and use.
  • Take on other duties as needed. The role may change over time to support the business and employee experience.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years in Warehouse Execution System software technical sales, software consulting or software implementation.
  • Experience gathering technical requirements, checking system compatibility and documenting software project scopes.
  • Ability to explain software capabilities, processes and technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical people.
  • Comfort managing customer relationships, running meetings and handling escalated technical discussions.
  • Ability to work with sales, engineering, software development, estimating, implementation and contracts teams.
  • Organized and analytical, able to move an opportunity from early discovery through pricing and proposal.
  • Willing to travel roughly 30 to 40 percent, with more travel from February through May for trade shows.

Conditions

Approximately 30 to 40 percent travel, rising for trade shows from February through May.

Equal opportunity employer: applicants are considered regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, disability, veteran status, gender identity or sexual orientation. Accommodation is available during application, testing and interviews on request.

Benefits

  • Competitive salaries and health benefits.
  • 401(k) with a 100% match up to 5%.
  • Participation in the Discretionary Profit-Sharing Program.
  • Flexibility and autonomy in how you work.
  • Casual but focused, family-like culture.
  • Community outreach projects throughout the year.
  • Company events, a snack wall and a relaxed atmosphere.
