Description

The company was founded in Switzerland in 1968, is owned by its partners, and has offices across Europe and Asia. It works as a global transformation partner with a strong engineering and innovation focus.

Clients rely on the company to shape their businesses for the future, helping them run better today while adapting to changing markets, customers, and communities. Its multidisciplinary teams cover tech strategy and business innovation, digital solutions and applications, and device and systems engineering. It has particular depth in regulated sectors such as health and finance, linking strategy, technology delivery, and operational services.

The team is looking for an Expert Data Engineer focused on Databricks and modern data platforms. The role suits someone who enjoys turning messy raw data into reliable, valuable solutions and who likes combining deep technical work with client consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to understand their real problems, turn business requirements into solid technical solutions, and challenge assumptions when needed so the right problem gets solved.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes that need little firefighting.
  • Lead the architecture and implementation of data platforms on Databricks, using Delta Lake, workflows, and cluster management to fit each client's scale and budget.
  • Set up and maintain cloud infrastructure with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD so deployments are reproducible and reliable.
  • Treat data quality, governance, and security as priorities from the outset.
  • Keep improving data processing for speed and efficiency, weighing technical elegance against cost.
  • Work alongside data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to build integrated, high-impact data platforms.
  • Support junior engineers, contribute to best practices, and share knowledge across the team.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark, workflows, jobs, and Unity Catalog, and a clear sense of when Databricks is the right tool and when it is not.
  • Daily use of strong SQL and Python skills, with clean, maintainable code.
  • Proficiency with Azure and/or AWS, and familiarity with lakehouse and data warehousing approaches.
  • Experience with pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow, Databricks Workflows, or dbt, for structuring and scheduling maintainable pipelines.
  • Software engineering discipline, including clean code, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  • Several years of professional data engineering experience, ideally in client-facing roles, handling shifting requirements and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Fluency in German and English to communicate confidently with clients and colleagues.
  • A university degree (Uni or FH) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Conditions

Flexible working hours, with the option to work from home up to three days per week, depending on client needs.

A safe and healthy workplace.

Equal opportunity statement: the company welcomes applicants of all backgrounds regardless of gender, personality, national origin, race, religion, colour, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, disability, or veteran status.

Benefits

  • A profit share that may be paid on top of your annual salary, based on the company's success in the previous year.
  • A global, diverse community across 16 offices, with annual team camps, year-end parties, and local celebrations.
  • Investment in your development, helping you build the skills to make a positive impact for yourself and for clients.
  • Applicants who do not meet every requirement are still encouraged to apply, as the company wants to learn about their ambitions and ideas.
  • Local benefits information is available through a link in the original posting.
