Description

You will lead an engineering team that builds and runs Workday integrations and platform solutions, providing people, technical and delivery leadership.

The role sets integration strategy and engineering standards, keeps solutions reliable, manages risks and dependencies, and brings newer Workday features, automation and responsible AI into the work to speed up delivery and improve quality, scale and the colleague experience.

The role reports to the Product Group Technology Lead in the HR Platforms ART.

The company is one of the largest banks in North America, the fifth largest by branches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a mixed team of Workday integration engineers, technology specialists, business systems analysts and quality engineers, and own their technical design, engineering quality, delivery commitments and operational results.
  • Set direction for the Workday integration portfolio, covering integration architecture, design standards and APIs across Workday Studio, Workday Orchestrate, Prism, Extend and approved enterprise integration platforms.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex integration problems, cross-platform dependencies, architecture decisions, production risks and vendor escalations.
  • Lead or oversee design reviews for complex Workday solutions to confirm they fit enterprise architecture, security, integration, data and engineering standards.
  • Give engineers the standards, tools, processes and documentation they need to design, deliver and support Workday solutions.
  • Bring modern engineering tools and automation into building, testing, deploying, configuring, monitoring and releasing.
  • Work across Technology to find reusable solutions, shared engineering capabilities and ways to simplify the technology landscape.
  • Keep clear visibility of delivery health, milestones, capacity, technical risks and corrective actions, and report progress and decisions to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage stakeholder impacts, dependencies and engagement across business and technology teams.
  • Brief senior and executive stakeholders on progress, risks and recommendations, and secure timely input and approval on key decisions.
  • Build team skills in AI-assisted development, prompt engineering, intelligent automation and the responsible use of approved enterprise AI tools.
  • Spot business and regulatory issues early and recommend process, product and organizational improvements.
  • Manage resourcing and assignments so milestones are met and work stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Work with Product Owners and business leaders to rank and sequence work by business value, regulatory commitments, risk, urgency, dependencies and team capacity.
  • Oversee business expenses and FTE plans, with controls to track spending against plan.
  • Maintain a technology roadmap by following Workday releases, engineering practices, HR technology trends and platform capabilities, and turning useful ones into modernization initiatives.
  • Assess new HR SaaS capabilities for business value, architecture fit, security, operational readiness, cost, skills and implementation risk, then take approved ones through pilot, adoption and scale.
  • Where needed, advise governance and control groups such as regulatory and operational risk, compliance and audit on risks tied to engineering technology and tools.
  • Lead teams to deliver solutions in their assigned domain and meet service-level commitments.
  • Work with Technology, Finance, Audit and business stakeholders on new capabilities, retiring obsolete technology and business-led initiatives that need engineering support.
  • Build an engaged, diverse team, model inclusive leadership, and recruit and develop a diverse pipeline of talent.
  • Encourage continuous learning by seeking and acting on feedback from peers and colleague listening channels, and share knowledge across the team.
  • Lead the team through change, encouraging people to question current practice and adapt as priorities shift.
  • Assess current and future capability needs and close gaps through hiring, coaching, upskilling, cross-training and workforce planning.
  • Manage employees in line with all human resources policies, procedures and codes of conduct.
  • Drive a high-performance culture by setting clear goals, giving timely coaching and feedback, running required performance check-ins and holding people accountable.
  • Connect colleagues' contributions to the company's Shared Commitments.

  • Proven people leadership, including talent acquisition, coaching, performance management, career development, succession planning and workforce planning.
  • Ability to coordinate and influence work across teams and technology areas outside your own.
  • A university or post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
