Responsibilities

• Join the WhatsApp team, which builds and scales the company's messaging channels, including WhatsApp, LINE and Kakao.
• Own the sending, analytics and subscription management areas, including a feature-rich dashboard where customers write messages and a highly parallel platform that sends and processes messaging events.
• Build new features and improve performance with your teammates.
• Advise on key architecture decisions and design new versions of critical system components.
• Make the systems more resilient as they scale.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of full-stack development experience.
• A solid grasp of distributed systems, data structures and algorithms.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Prior experience working in a team.
• Bonus: professional experience with any of Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, React or TypeScript.
• Bonus: professional experience building distributed systems at scale.
• Bonus: experience with agile processes.

Conditions

Candidates based in Canada can expect a starting base pay of CA$125,280 to CA$210,600 per year, with expected on target earnings (OTE) of CA$139,200 to CA$234,000 per year, including performance-based or variable pay such as bonus or commission.

Final offers depend on factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Total rewards include cash pay plus restricted stock units (RSUs), so you own a share of the company.
