Description

The company is a global cybersecurity firm whose AI-native platform helps organizations defend against breaches.

Its distributed systems handle close to 3 trillion events a day, and that volume grows daily.

Customers in every industry rely on the platform to keep their operations running and their communities safe.

This role sits in the TechOps SRE team and focuses on the Commercial Cloud. The team wants a hands-on, technical Engineer II who enjoys writing automation and tooling in code and keeps mission-critical services reliable across large-scale distributed systems.

The company offers flexibility and autonomy and expects everyone to adopt AI responsibly, experiment with it and innovate.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational side of the platform: availability, latency, throughput, monitoring, and capacity planning for latency and throughput.
  • Handle issues end to end, from analysis and remediation through to deployment.
  • Manage Linux systems across thousands of bare metal servers and virtual machines.
  • Diagnose faults in server hardware.
  • Keep the platform running flawlessly around the clock and take part in an on-call rotation.
  • Lead incident analysis, champion sound incident response practices, and link incidents to systemic problems until they are resolved.
  • Collect and analyze metrics from operating systems and applications to tune performance and find faults.
  • Work alongside engineers spread across the world.
  • Build small development projects and take on larger ones now and then.
  • Learn new technology quickly and share what you learn to raise the team's technical level. You do not need to know every tool the team already uses.
  • Gain broad knowledge of the architecture and become an expert in the overall process flow.
  • Keep pushing to make things better.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years working in a large-scale production environment.
  • At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years working in one or more of C++, Java, Python or Go.
  • Experience with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, NFS, object storage, FreeNAS and iSCSI.
  • Experience with infrastructure technologies such as Linux, Windows, VMware, Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring and telemetry stacks such as ELK, Prometheus, Grafana and Zabbix.
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible.
  • A solid grasp of application design and the operational trade-offs between designs.
  • Strong analytical skills, a clear sense of urgency, and ownership and drive.
  • Ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with SREs and engineers.
  • Ability to communicate and present the conventions the reliability team defines.
  • Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, raise efficiency and drive business results.
