Description

The company is a leading, client-focused global asset manager. The Solution and Data Architecture team sits within the technology office of the COO division, which sets the technology strategy, transformation agenda and innovation priorities.

The team defines architecture standards, patterns and guidance so delivery teams can build scalable, secure and future-ready solutions. It works with domain architects, security specialists, data experts, platform teams and delivery squads to keep solutions aligned with strategy, principles and policy.

The team supports work from early requirements through solution design, design governance and implementation, and it also tracks emerging technologies to improve the technology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Turn functional and non-functional requirements into designs covering building blocks, services, data pipelines, integrations and user-facing components.
  • Lead end-to-end solution design, making sure it fits architecture principles, technology strategy, security requirements and design governance.
  • Partner with data architects on how data is ingested, transformed, managed and consumed.
  • Coach engineering teams through implementation so that designs are clear, workable and built as intended.
  • With domain architects and other solution and data architects, write architecture decision records, reusable patterns and practical guidance for recurring design problems.
  • Help delivery teams present and defend their designs to architecture and design authorities.
  • Assess and prototype new technologies, then turn them into practical usage patterns that modernise and improve the technology estate.

Requirements

  • A degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Typically 5+ years in software engineering, solution architecture or a similar technology role.
  • Solid grasp of modern application architecture, distributed systems, APIs, integration patterns and cloud-native design.
  • Experience designing, building or integrating IAM systems with ABAC or RBAC controls.
  • Strong Java skills, including the Java ecosystem, Spring Boot, J2EE/Jakarta EE and current JDKs.
  • Ability to split complex problems into clear, actionable and implementable solution components.
  • Experience working with engineers, product teams, business stakeholders and architecture or governance forums.
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in financial services, asset management or another regulated environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with.NET, TypeScript, Python or modern front-end and service development approaches.
  • Understanding of data architecture, data pipelines, data governance and data consumption patterns.
  • Experience with TOGAF, SAFe or comparable architecture and delivery frameworks.
  • Experience defining reusable patterns, decision trees, architecture decision records and design standards.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and the ability to judge their practical relevance for enterprise adoption.
  • Confident conversational and professional German (B2), enough to negotiate, present and collaborate with German-speaking clients.
  • Proven ability to use AI tools to raise productivity and streamline workflows, applying critical judgment to use data and AI outputs responsibly and ethically.
