Position Summary:

The Director of Software Development leads the R&D organization responsible for building and delivering the Entrust Agentic Trust solution. This leader translates the four-plane reference architecture—Identity, Authority, Execution, and Assurance—into an executable development strategy, operating model, and product roadmap. The role is accountable for Engineering execution, talent, quality, security, delivery predictability, and operational readiness across the platform.

Working closely with VP of Software Development, Product Management, the Platform Architect, Security, Cloud Operations, and Lines of Business, the Director ensures teams deliver cohesive, scalable capabilities for agent identity, delegated authorization, policy enforcement, evidence, replay, continuous authentication, and content provenance. This leader balances innovation and speed with the rigor required for cryptographic systems, enterprise software, and regulated customers.

Responsibilities

  • Software Development Strategy & Delivery
  • Define and execute the Software Development strategy, organizational design, delivery model, and technical roadmap for the Agentic Trust platform.
  • Convert product and architecture priorities into funded plans, measurable outcomes, release commitments, and clear ownership across teams.
  • Establish mechanisms for planning, dependency management, design review, testing, release readiness, and production operations.
  • Own delivery predictability, product quality, reliability, security, cost, and Software Development productivity.
  • Ensure architecture decisions and Line of Business dependency contracts are implemented consistently across build tracks.
  • Technical & Operational Leadership
  • Guide development of cloud-native services, APIs, SDKs, policy and authorization components, tamper-evident evidence systems, and integration surfaces.
  • Embed secure software development, threat modeling, privacy, observability, resilience, and third-party assurance requirements into the development lifecycle.
  • Make informed build-versus-buy decisions and manage technical debt, platform risk, and lifecycle investment.
  • Create a production ownership model with service-level objectives, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • People & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, inclusive Software organization spanning multiple experience levels and disciplines
  • Hire and coach technical talent; establish role clarity, career paths, succession plans, and performance expectations.
  • Partner with Product and Architecture to make transparent tradeoffs among scope, timing, quality, and risk.
  • Communicate development progress, decisions, dependencies, and risks to executive and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 20+ years of software development experience, including 10+ years leading Software Development managers or multiple development teams.
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-grade cloud or security products from concept through production and ongoing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, cloud platforms, secure development, DevSecOps, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience leading products with demanding security, privacy, availability, or regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, resolve cross-functional conflict, and make clear decisions in ambiguity.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with identity, PKI, cryptography, authorization, policy engines, workload identity, verifiable logs, or zero-trust architectures.
  • Experience developing AI, agentic AI, LLM, MCP, or machine-to-machine platforms.
  • Experience delivering products under FIPS 140-3, Common Criteria, SOC 2, FedRAMP, eIDAS, or similar assurance regimes.
