Senior Backend Engineer( AdTech)

Description

The company makes cybersecurity products for high-traffic settings, helping organizations and users stay safe from online threats.

You will join the team behind an edge proxy built on Cloudflare Workers that handles tens of millions of requests a day in video ad delivery.

The proxy fetches and processes VAST responses, modifies them, including malicious ad protection for VPAID creatives, and merges several VAST documents into one XML response for video players.

All ad traffic runs through it, so low latency, high availability, scalability and stability are central.

Responsibilities

• Own the edge proxy service from start to finish.
• Keep the service running and extend its features.
• Design and build back-end systems that scale under heavy load.
• Help onboard new clients by setting up integrations and monitoring, troubleshooting issues, and tuning performance.
• Build custom features and integrations based on client needs.
• Track system performance and find ways to improve it before problems appear.
• Keep the service reliable, available and fast.
• Take part in release planning, deployments and production support.
• Strengthen observability with monitoring, alerting and internal tooling.
• Work with product and engineering colleagues on how the platform's architecture should evolve.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of paid back-end development work.
• Deep skill in server-side JavaScript or another back-end language.
• Work experience in AdTech.
• A track record of running production systems under heavy load.
• A good grasp of debugging, monitoring, hotfixing and zero-downtime deployments.
• A solid understanding of HTTP, web basics, HTML and tracking pixels.
• Experience building scalable, highly available distributed systems.
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Able to own services independently and push technical improvements forward.
• English at Upper-Intermediate level or higher.
• Clear communication and teamwork across distributed teams.
• You think analytically and work from data, and you take real ownership of outcomes.
• You spot problems and improvement opportunities on your own initiative.
• You work well alone in a role that carries high responsibility.
• You are detail-oriented about reliability and quality.
• You troubleshoot well and make sound decisions under pressure.
