Description

The company is building a new generation of digital infrastructure for dairy farms. At its core is a platform that runs Kubernetes on-site at each farm and serves as the base for the company's digital services.

The platform gives each farm a dependable, secure local IT setup and lets internal software teams run their applications directly on the farm.

The global rollout has only just started, with the goal of eventually reaching more than 25,000 farms worldwide.

In this role you help design and refine the platform alongside other engineers, so that internal applications run safely, scale well and stay reliable. Your work covers container orchestration, deployment pipelines and observability, keeping software stable across thousands of farms.

The team works in an international setting that values collaboration, initiative and diverse perspectives, and encourages learning, experimentation and ownership of ideas. The company was founded in 1948, has more than 30 years of experience selling and servicing automated systems for dairy farmers, and is active in over fifty countries from its campus in Maassluis.

Responsibilities

• Evolve the edge platform that hosts applications from several internal development teams.
• Build and maintain Helm charts for applications running on the edge Kubernetes environment.
• Create and improve CI/CD pipelines that roll out chosen software versions in a controlled way to thousands of farms.
• Set up and extend observability and monitoring so you can see how the platform performs at customer sites.
• Work with development teams to make sure their applications run safely and reliably on the edge platform.
• Build and integrate supporting tooling, partly off the shelf and partly developed in-house.

Requirements

• You enjoy building platforms and infrastructure at scale, working with other teams, and creating technology that is used in practice.
• About 5 years of experience as a platform, cloud or infrastructure engineer.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, containers and Kubernetes environments.
• Working knowledge of Helm and of managing container-based applications.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, for example in GitLab.
• A structured way of working and an interest in reliable, secure platform architectures.
• Willingness to join an on-call rotation outside office hours, on average one evening per week and one weekend every five weeks, supporting internal teams that run applications on the platform.
• A plus: experience with Talos Linux, Omni, Python, KubeVirt, Cilium, the Grafana stack, ArgoCD or Multus.

Conditions

Hybrid working: at least three days a week on campus, with flexible hours and room to spend extra time onsite between 06:00 and 20:00.

Salary of €5.000 - €7.100 gross per month, with clear opportunities to grow within the pay scale.
