C++ Software Engineer

Description

The team builds software that runs scanning electron microscopes (SEM), and the company works in semiconductor manufacturing, cancer research, environmental protection and advanced materials.

You will solve hard technical problems in a team with scientists, physicists, electronics engineers, systems engineers and application specialists.

Your code will move science forward in these fields, and you will test it on physical instruments.

You will be part of engineering groups in Brno and the USA.

Responsibilities

• Build new features in modern C++ for a platform that drives many SEM models.
• Write, run and check your code on real instruments.
• Find, trace and fix faults in a large, established codebase.
• Work through difficult technical problems and propose practical fixes.
• Work with software engineers in Brno and the USA, and with specialists from other engineering and science fields.
• Help raise the quality, reliability and speed of the software over time.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of paid software development experience, or an advanced degree and at least 3 years of commercial experience.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related technical field preferred.
• Strong command of modern C++.
• Solid knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
• Sharp analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using version control systems such as Git.
• Ability to turn complex technical and scientific requirements into working software.
• Clear communication and the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience building software that controls hardware or runs on hardware-integrated systems.

Conditions
