Description

The company is building out its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) work, with several new features, subsystems and sensing systems heading to production vehicles.

The team owns a simulation toolchain that evaluates vehicle-level performance of ADAS control features. It runs in a realistic 3D virtual environment and models sensors, physical vehicle systems and control systems across several real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) setups.

The role covers features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and SuperCruise lane centering, and you will help move their testing from prototype vehicles into the virtual domain alongside software, capability and program execution teams.

The job combines simulation capability and toolchain development with some program execution support, to help the team deliver results on time and at the required quality.

Responsibilities

  • Build models, software and hardware and integrate them into the simulation infrastructure.
  • Create Simulink models of consumed serial data, 3D virtual road networks and traffic scenarios, and plant models such as CarSim, dSPACE ASM and others that represent the vehicle's physical systems.
  • Develop sensor models that the ADAS controller uses.
  • Run and maintain hardware-in-the-loop simulators such as dSPACE to support customers' control code development and validation.
  • Work with the ADAS community to find new uses for simulation that reduce the need for physical prototype testing.
  • Extend the core co-simulation infrastructure and evaluate new technologies and methods that improve its capability, efficiency and robustness.
  • Help build a collaborative, productive team culture.

Requirements

  • Experience in any of the following areas: hardware-in-the-loop or control system simulation, especially with dSPACE HiL and Simulink; vehicle control systems such as ADAS, chassis or powertrain controls, in algorithm development or calibration, including CAN or automotive Ethernet; or active safety, automated driving or autonomous vehicle work in software, calibration, design and release, testing or validation.
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering or another related engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of experience, including 3 years in HIL simulation and test execution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working in a collaborative, diverse, multi-functional team and with a wide range of customers.
  • Strong analytical skills for solving unusual, difficult and ambiguous problems.
  • Competitive edge: experience with virtual environment and sensor modeling software such as dSPACE ASM/Aurelion, CarSim, Hexagon Virtual Test Drive (VTD), CARLA, CarMaker, Prescan, SCANeR, rFactor, Forum8 or MathWorks Automated Driving System Toolbox.
  • Competitive edge: experience with SOME/IP.
  • Competitive edge: experience with Software Defined Vehicle (SDV).
  • Competitive edge: Python scripting for test automation.
  • Competitive edge: vehicle dynamics, brakes, steering or chassis controls, especially in controls simulation.
  • Competitive edge: experience with automotive control system instrumentation such as INCA or ETAS.
  • Competitive edge: data analytics.
  • Competitive edge: Autodesk 3ds Max, Unity, Unreal or other computer graphics or visual effects work.
  • Competitive edge: full motion or static driving simulator experience.
  • Competitive edge: a master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering or another related engineering discipline.
  • Competitive edge: 5 years of experience in HIL simulation and test execution.
  • Competitive edge: experience with Vector tools in HIL simulation and test execution.
