Description

The company's Customer Experience and Solution Design team in Diagnostics has formed ARC (AI for the company Creators), a new squad that explores how AI can change design work at the mix of creativity and technology.

ARC builds AI-assisted workflows, tools and prototypes that help designers, researchers and engineers go from idea to working experience, with a stated aim of 10x faster.

You will work alongside senior designers, human factors engineers, technologists and software engineers, learning how business needs, regulatory limits and user needs shape design decisions in healthcare.

The design organization has more than 80 professionals, and the company describes its mission as preventing, stopping and curing disease and widening access to healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Help designers move from static clickable mockups to prototypes that run on real logic, real data and real interactions, built with AI coding tools such as Claude Code.
  • Turn ideas, user needs and design concepts into working prototypes, visual concepts, motion studies and 3D explorations using generative tools for image, video, 3D and audio.
  • Work closely with designers and researchers to learn their workflows and find places where AI can support their work without replacing human creativity.
  • Build small internal tools, plugins and workflows on the company's design system and design tokens to speed up design.
  • Turn experimental prototypes into clear technical requirements so engineering teams can build production-ready solutions.
  • Support usability testing across the whole prototype lifecycle: planning, preparing, running and analysing sessions.
  • Test new AI models, tools and techniques, then share what you learn through demos, workshops and training materials that help designers of any technical level start vibe-coding their own prototypes.

Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled at a university, or graduated within 12 months before the internship starts, in Interaction Design, UX Design, HCID, Computer Science, Creative Technology, Industrial Design or a similar field.
  • You have hands-on experience with generative AI, covering AI coding tools such as Claude Code and generative media tools for image, video, 3D or audio, and you have shown at least one project.
  • You know front-end basics, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React, well enough to read, adapt and debug code that AI tools produce.
  • You have a solid foundation in UX, UI and interaction design and practical Figma experience, and you have shown at least one project.
  • You understand how design systems and design tokens work, for example Material Design.
  • You learn fast, enjoy experimenting and like sharing what you build.
  • You speak English fluently enough to explain design ideas clearly in an international, cross-functional team.
  • Show your work in a portfolio, with links to live prototypes or repositories where possible.
  • Nice to have: experience with node-based or visual AI workflow tools, LLM APIs or building simple AI agents.
  • Nice to have: work with Arduino, Processing or physical computing for experiences beyond screens.
  • Nice to have: active participation in the AI or design community, such as side projects, open source, talks or posts.

Conditions

This is a practical internship, so you cannot write an academic thesis alongside it.

The preferred start date is January 2027, or by discussion. The internship lasts 6 to 12 months and is based in Rotkreuz.

Non-EU or non-EFTA citizens must provide a university confirmation that the internship is part of their education and that they stay enrolled for the whole internship.

The company is an equal opportunity employer.
