The team is running a multi-year program to move core platforms onto OpenShift, first on premises and later to public cloud. The change reshapes the operating model and the roadmap for several business-critical applications, moving them away from legacy monoliths toward resilient cloud-native microservices.
This is a senior, independent technical role. You will set the target technical architecture for key domains across private OpenShift/Kubernetes and AWS/GCP, covering capabilities, processes, data flows, controls and network links. You will turn strategy into a business and technology blueprint that guides the work, including splitting monoliths into microservices and designing secure, resilient links between internal systems and clients, market data providers and payment networks.
You will report to the Infra and Platform Lead and work alongside a small group of application architects and senior stakeholders in business, operations and technology.
Responsibilities
Set the target state technology architecture for key domains in Payments, Trade and Working Capital, Core Accounts, Digital Technology, and Issuer and Investor Services, across private OpenShift/Kubernetes and AWS/GCP.
Lead the move of monolithic applications to microservices and cloud-native designs, using patterns such as Strangler Fig, Domain-Driven Design, API-led decomposition and event-driven architecture to re-platform and re-architect critical workloads.
Design and build enterprise runtime platforms with Docker or Podman, Kubernetes or OpenShift, service mesh, and Terraform, Ansible or Helm across on-prem and public cloud.
Engineer low-latency, secure connectivity between on-prem systems and outside ecosystems: client channels, leased lines, VPN, MPLS and API gateways; market data feeds from exchanges and vendors such as Bloomberg and Refinitiv, including multicast and FIX; and payment rails such as SWIFT, ACH, RTGS, card networks and real-time payments. Hybrid patterns include Direct Connect or Interconnect, VPN, peering, DNS and global traffic management across on-prem, private and public cloud.
Map and critically review current business processes and application estates to find gaps, pain points, technical debt and chances to simplify, standardize and automate.
Produce process models, functional designs, reference architectures, network topology diagrams and data flow diagrams that describe the future state and fit strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
Lead the design of reconciliation and substantiation frameworks from a process and data integrity view, so data stays complete, accurate and timely as workloads move from monolithic stores to distributed cloud-native data platforms.
Set up standard CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, automated security gates and SRE practices that speed delivery while keeping systems resilient, observable and compliant.
Work with application development, architects, network engineering and operations to gather requirements, build agreement and make sure the target architecture meets key business needs.
Lead and mentor a team of SMEs, building strong platform and infrastructure design and delivery practice, strategic thinking, engineering rigor and an understanding of the business.
