Java/SQL Developer - Assistant Vice President

The role is a Software Engineer position in the Prime Services area, working on the company's in-house Cross Functional Reference Data Foundation platform. It involves building and improving the platform, and keeping the current version stable while it evolves.

Responsibilities

• Build, extend and support high-quality Java applications, following Test-Driven Development, Spring and Microservices practices.
• Analyse systems and write code to keep applications fast and dependable.
• Work with global developers, business stakeholders and other technical teams to gather requirements, shape solutions and deliver joined-up projects.
• Improve and maintain existing platforms so they remain stable and can scale.
• Take part in every stage of the development lifecycle, from concept and design through testing and release, using agile principles.
• Use solid SQL and Stored Procedures skills to interact with databases and manage data.
• Run and debug applications on Linux.
• Adjust quickly when technical needs or priorities change, juggling several deadlines at once.
• Keep learning and work well with others.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of progressive experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
• A track record of carrying software projects from start to finish.
• Strong hands-on Java coding skills.
• Deep experience with Test-Driven Development.
• Expertise in Spring and Microservices architecture.
• Solid, hands-on SQL and Stored Procedures experience.
• Proficiency with Linux.
• Working knowledge of project management techniques, with a strong focus on agile methods.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced setting, handle several deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
• Strong teamwork and clear verbal and written communication, including working with global teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and help maintain and enhance the current platform.
• Bachelor's degree or university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with React, other modern web technologies and web best practices.
• Understanding of HTML5 and CSS.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation such as Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with any messaging tool such as TIBCO EMS or Kafka.
• Experience with any caching product such as Gemfire or Redis.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Conditions

Hybrid working model with up to 2 days a week working from home, in a business casual workplace.

Full-time position based in Tampa, Florida, United States.

The base salary is competitive and reviewed annually.
