Description

The company wants to apply AI agents, machine learning, and performance engineering to compilers, GPU kernels, and developer tools.

This internship is a scoped project run with compiler, kernel, and AI engineers. It covers code, compiler and kernel feedback, performance experiments, and optimization.

The focus depends on your background and interests: agentic workflows, learned models, compiler optimization, GPU kernel development, performance analysis, or AI-enabled developer tools.

You may come in from a compiler or a kernel background. You do not need experience in every area.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI agent workflows that work with code, compilers, GPU kernels, benchmarks, performance tools, and engineering systems.
  • Create tools that let agents gather data, run experiments, analyze compiler, kernel, and performance feedback, spot optimization opportunities, and suggest next steps.
  • Investigate data-driven methods for compiler optimization, GPU kernel generation and tuning, performance prediction, decision support, and workflow automation.
  • Build dependable interfaces between AI agents and compiler, kernel, or developer-tool infrastructure.
  • Prototype changes to compiler flows, code generation, GPU kernels, optimization tools, experiment systems, or developer workflows.
  • Test ideas on representative workloads with compiler, kernel, architecture, AI, and performance engineers.
  • Measure correctness, runtime speed, compile time, resource use, reliability, and other relevant results.
  • Write up the design, experiments, results, limitations, and next steps.

Requirements

  • You are pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • You have strong programming skills in Python, C, C++, or a similar language.
  • You have a solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, software engineering, and quantitative problem solving.
  • You have coursework, research, or project experience in at least one of: AI, machine learning, AI agents, compilers, programming languages, GPU kernels, CUDA or accelerator programming, systems, performance engineering, optimization, or developer tools.
  • You can design experiments, analyze results, dig into technical problems, and explain your findings clearly.
  • You have experience in AI, compilers, kernels, performance, or systems, and you can pick up skills across these areas.
  • Ways to stand out: you have built AI agents, LLM applications, evaluation systems, coding workflows, or developer tools.
  • Ways to stand out: you have worked with LLVM, MLIR, compiler optimization passes, code generation, domain-specific languages, or compiler infrastructure.
  • Ways to stand out: you have written, analyzed, or optimized GPU kernels in CUDA, Triton, or a similar accelerator model.
  • Ways to stand out: you have hands-on work with reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms, predictive modeling, ranking, search, or high-dimensional data analysis.
  • Ways to stand out: you have done research, internships, open-source work, or personal projects that measure runtime, compile time, resource use, code quality, or developer productivity.
