Description

The company makes stories and worlds for every age and audience, with its content, fan connections and use of technology at the center.

The company has three segments: Studios, Direct-to-Consumer and TV Media.

This senior role requires deep knowledge of broadcast and live production systems, whether traditional, software defined or cloud based, and an advanced grasp of the IT systems behind both linear and non-linear productions.

You will lead complex projects, including supervising others and managing them, and act as a subject matter expert and resource for tier 1 and tier 2 teams when needed.

Depending on the need, you will be highly skilled in one or more areas and recognised by peers as an expert.

Teams work quickly, challenge ideas and collaborate to get results.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain end-to-end signal flow architectures for live production facilities.
  • Run video and audio routing across SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, JPEG XS, NDI, SRT and related IP transport technologies.
  • Set up and support broadcast control systems, orchestration platforms, router control panels and software-defined networking.
  • Build monitoring for signal integrity, path redundancy, quality of service and fault detection.
  • Diagnose complex routing, timing, synchronization and transmission faults that affect live operations.
  • Write and maintain signal flow documents, routing maps and operating standards.
  • Lead infrastructure deployments, upgrades, proof-of-concept testing and technology evaluations.
  • Work with Network Engineering, Production Engineering, Operations and vendors to build scalable, resilient workflows.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support during high-profile live events and critical broadcasts.
  • Carry out system design, quotes and implementation, including specifying all equipment and materials, preparing a bill of materials, and submitting cost estimates with justification to senior leadership.
  • Once a project is approved, integrate the new system, configure most of its components and manage relationships with third-party and internal partners and vendors.
  • Give system overviews and training.
  • Find new, cost-effective ways to change workflows for efficiency, working with peers, the team and customers.
  • Lead support across the broadcast enterprise, running major incident calls and acting as Incident Manager where appropriate.
  • Be a source of knowledge for tier 1 and tier 2 teams, and build training through mentoring, courses or knowledge base articles.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in live production projects and/or maintenance, or 8 to 10 years of experience in advanced IT support or systems design for live production.
  • Solid understanding of fiber optic technology and broadcast satellite systems.
  • Ideally, experience with virtualized compute and storage, broadcast automation, play-to-air systems including automation and play-out servers, and live studio and master control environments with advanced graphics knowledge.
  • A 2+ year Associate's degree with equivalent experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, is preferred.
  • Communicate clearly with senior executives, clients and vendors.

Conditions

You will work with teams across several facilities and in other regions where the company has a presence.

Candidates with a disability who need adjustments during the application or recruitment process can request them through the accessibility page.
