Description

The role leads product strategy for CNN Newsource, CNN's B2B content syndication service that supplies video, text and photo content to more than 1,000 news organizations.

The goal is a product that sets Newsource apart from wire services by putting video at the center and being built around what partners actually need.

You will turn deep user and business understanding into a product strategy, a roadmap and measurable results.

The focus is on helping partners find, access and use content more easily, fitting it into their workflows, and understanding how their audiences engage with it.

The company is a global media and entertainment business with Studios, Direct-to-Consumer and TV Media segments.

Responsibilities

  • Set the product vision, strategy, goals and roadmap for the digital experience Newsource gives its partner network.
  • Decide which product areas to fund, based on customer impact and business value, and recommend where to add or cut investment using data.
  • Become the expert on customer needs, starting with internal stakeholders, then speaking directly with selected affiliate stations and local news partners about their workflows.
  • Turn user insights into clear product requirements and investment recommendations that link partner needs to platform choices.
  • Work with engineering and design to define, build and release improvements on a steady, high-quality schedule.
  • Set success metrics, make sure tracking is in place, use the data to judge impact and guide iteration, and report results to leadership.
  • Use AI tools to speed up product management work and judge where AI can noticeably improve the team's speed and output quality.
  • Coordinate with engineering, editorial, sales and business development so product work supports wider Newsource strategy and revenue goals.
  • Present plans and results persuasively to executives, and help raise the level of the wider product team through mentoring and shared practices.

Requirements

  • Required: at least 8 years of product management experience, including owning strategy, goals, metrics and delivery for a key product.
  • Required: you can work in moderately complex, moderately ambiguous settings, defining customers, strategy and roadmap with limited direction.
  • Required: practical understanding of content management systems (CMS), media asset management (MAM) systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, integrations and search technology.
  • Required: you have turned user research and behavioral data into product strategy and prioritized roadmaps.
  • Required: strong written and verbal communication, with product documents good enough to serve as examples for others.
  • Required: you are comfortable working with dedicated engineering and design teams to ship on a steady cadence.
  • Preferred: experience with B2B platforms, especially for media, publishing or content distribution customers.
  • Preferred: familiarity with the news agency market, affiliate or syndication models, or local news operations.
  • Preferred: experience using AI-assisted tools, such as for prototyping, data analysis, content generation or workflow automation, to improve product work speed and quality.
  • Preferred: background in product-led growth, especially in marketplace business models.
  • Preferred: experience setting up customer analytics and engagement measurement.
  • Preferred: familiarity with A/B testing, user experience research and iterative product development.

Conditions

Hiring salary range: $129,500.00 to $240,500.00 per year.

Pay depends on factors such as location, market data, internal equity, skills, experience, training, education and performance.
