VP Senior Software Engineer – Java & Distributed Systems

Description

The company is hiring a senior engineer who can reason clearly across the whole product lifecycle, from design to production, and who works with an AI-first approach.

This is a senior hands-on individual contributor role, with room to grow for the right person. You will design, build and ship real systems, and set the quality bar by writing code and making architecture decisions that others can learn from, rather than only talking about best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services from start to finish, covering requirements, architecture, implementation, testing and delivery.
• Bring solid engineering fundamentals to everything you build, with clean design, sound architecture and quality as the priority.
• Make your work easy to open up and understand through clear documentation, readable code and decisions that others can follow.
• Use AI tools as a normal part of your day to work faster and produce better results.
• Review code and mentor engineers by example, through the quality of your own work and how you tackle problems.
• Stay organized and dependable, take ownership of problems and push them through to resolution.
• Learn new parts of the stack or domain quickly as needed, and share that adaptability with the team.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Learn new technology and solve new problems quickly and adaptably.
• An AI-first mindset, with comfort using AI tools as part of daily engineering work.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to take ownership and lead by example.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Nice to have:
• 10+ years of experience, including architecture or design-level ownership.
• Experience with microservices or event-driven architecture.
• Front-end development experience with Angular, React or similar.
• Experience with cloud-native or containerized environments.
• Exposure to test automation practices.
• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.

Conditions

Full-time position.

Salary range for the primary location: $120,800.00 to $170,800.00.
