Technology, architecture. The company treats data and AI as core capabilities for building software, running platforms, serving customers, supporting staff and growing the business.
The role is Vice President, Enterprise Data and AI Architect, reporting to the Chief Architect. It sits between enterprise architecture, data architecture, AI strategy, platform engineering and business change.
The job links Enterprise Architecture with the Chief Data and AI Office, so data architecture, AI strategy, platforms and governance operate as one enterprise effort. Scope covers modern data platforms, Generative AI, AI assistants, agentic AI and new human-plus-AI operating models, aimed at scalable solutions with measurable value.
The setting includes mainframes, several systems of record, difficult identity resolution problems and decades of important business data.
You sit on both the Enterprise Architecture Leadership Team and the CDAIO Leadership Team. The role connects long-term direction with building and scaling capabilities. It is not a review-and-governance role: you share ownership of strategy, architecture, platforms, governance and roadmaps while staying close to delivery.
Responsibilities
Set the target enterprise Data and AI architecture and its long-term roadmap.
Co-lead, with CDAIO leadership, the development of the enterprise Data and AI ecosystem, covering platform strategy, governance and capability roadmaps.
Shape the enterprise data and AI platforms: data products, lakehouse capabilities, metadata management, data quality, governance and AI platform services.
Create enterprise standards, architecture patterns, reference architectures and governance frameworks for reusable, trusted Data and AI capabilities.
Lead evaluation and adoption of new Data and AI technologies, deciding how each can be introduced responsibly.
Define architecture that lets Generative AI, agentic AI, AI assistants and later AI capabilities be adopted as the market changes.
Join architecture reviews, engineering discussions and design sessions to speed delivery and clear technical blockers.
Build a high-performing Data and AI architecture group focused on technical quality, innovation and ongoing learning.
In the first 6, 12 months: establish the target-state architecture and roadmap, define foundations for the agentic AI ecosystem and AI platform strategy, and advance the data platform strategy including architecture patterns, governance capabilities and integration standards.
In 12, 24 months: a clearly articulated, broadly adopted Data and AI vision and roadmap; an integrated Enterprise Architecture and CDAIO leadership model; platforms and governance that become the preferred foundation for innovation; faster delivery with measurable value; and a mature framework for responsible, secure, trusted AI adoption.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree is required. An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, information management or a related field is preferred.
Substantial experience leading enterprise architecture, data architecture, software engineering, AI engineering, platform engineering or technology strategy in large, complex organizations.
A record of leading transformation programs that balance innovation, scale, governance and business outcomes.
Experience leading enterprise Data and AI transformations and turning new technologies into measurable business value.
Solid grasp of current Data and AI ecosystems: data platforms, lakehouse architectures, data governance, Generative AI, agentic AI and enterprise AI platforms.
A history of taking organizations past experiments to repeatable, scalable capabilities that raise productivity, customer value and business impact.
Hands-on experience shaping Data and AI platforms, engineering approaches, governance models and operating practices for enterprise adoption.
Credibility as a Data and AI thought leader who can engage executives, architects, engineers, product teams and business leaders on strategy and technology investment.
Comfortable working hands-on, engaging directly with engineers and platform teams during active delivery.
Experience reviewing architecture implementations, platform configurations, engineering designs and code.
Ability to diagnose technical problems quickly, clear delivery blockers and give practical guidance to engineers.
Keen to stay current in emerging technologies and architecture practices.
You do not treat architecture as a review process. You build, stay immersed in the technology, and work comfortably at executive level while reviewing designs, evaluating implementations and troubleshooting alongside engineers.
