Description

The team builds scalable business-to-business data products that help merchants and suppliers act on insights.

The team handles product work from start to finish and values teamwork, engineering quality and steady improvement. Engineers combine software development, AI integration and platform design to build reliable, efficient systems, and the team encourages learning and knowledge sharing across functional groups.

This staff role is hands-on and includes technical leadership and mentoring. It calls for deep knowledge of cloud-native architecture, API design and AI/ML integration, and you will use data to guide decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full software lifecycle, from requirements and design through coding, testing, deployment, monitoring and upkeep.
  • Deliver platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling and ML frameworks, in line with roadmap priorities.
  • Turn high-level designs into detailed designs using mock screens, pseudocode and functional logic.
  • Lead system design reviews to check quality and fit with architecture standards.
  • Weigh trade-offs against business needs when designing solutions where processes and applications interact.
  • Build AI-driven applications that include ML components and automation.
  • Write clean, minimal code and configuration that meets business, technical and non-functional needs, aiming for low maintenance, high availability and high scalability.
  • Script automation for repetitive CI/CD, testing and other work, and implement telemetry on your own.
  • Apply security policy throughout development and configuration.
  • Map customer requirements to test goals, then create and run test cases with suitable tools.
  • Track and analyze defects, run regression tests, and study past defects to prevent repeats.
  • Run deployments, monitoring and maintenance, including complex maintenance tasks, on your own.
  • Find and resolve performance and availability bottlenecks.
  • Use metrics, logs, maintenance data and performance data to guide improvements.
  • Carry out corrective, adaptive and perfective maintenance and re-engineering.
  • Help assess gaps between customer expectations, business expectations and the current product, classify requirements, and write user stories.
  • With stakeholders, define technical requirements and success metrics, flag risks early and recommend fixes, and judge whether change requests are valid and feasible.
  • Help select languages, development standards and tools.
  • Mentor engineers, shape technical decisions and promote engineering best practices.
  • Keep improving processes, tools and products through innovation and feedback, and learn languages and frameworks useful for future work.

Requirements

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering or a related area, plus 4 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers and automation, for scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience with software design patterns, API design and prototyping that yield maintainable, modular solutions.
  • Proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, Scala or C++.
  • Nice to have: experience with the Spark framework and data streaming.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the full software lifecycle, including CI/CD, observability and maintenance.
  • Skill in DevOps practices that improve platform capabilities and developer productivity.
  • Experience with software testing, defect analysis and regression practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot performance and availability problems and maintain applications independently.
  • Experience using data-driven decisions to improve engineering processes and outcomes.
  • Ability to run thorough design reviews and corrective actions that keep engineering standards high.
  • Strong communication and collaboration, with a commitment to mentoring and continuous learning.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering or a related area, plus 2 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Preferred: background in building inclusive digital experiences, knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies, and skill in integrating digital accessibility, following the company's accessibility standards and guidelines.
