Technical Lead Consultant Cloud Engineering (all genders)

The data studio in Berlin is hiring for this role, which is hands-on, with real ownership of cloud architecture, automation and operational excellence.

You will work with engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable cloud solutions, raise productivity and keep performance, security and cost under continuous review.

Responsibilities

• Give technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineers and clients, and share best practices.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues spanning infrastructure, networking and applications.
• Deploy, debug and carry out cloud project work such as CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure checks and application validation.
• Design, build and maintain cloud systems covering data storage, observability, security policy, compliance and access controls.
• Recommend changes that improve cloud performance and reduce project cost.
• Modify and build applications that work with existing and new cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery, and keep documentation to a high standard.
• Talk with stakeholders to understand their needs and recommend suitable solutions.
• Teach and support other engineers as they adopt new cloud technologies and initiatives.

Requirements

• A completed degree in computer science, information systems or an equivalent, plus proven work as a cloud engineer, cloud developer, DevOps engineer or similar.
• Proven experience planning, implementing and managing Azure infrastructure.
• Experience managing stakeholders and working in direct contact with clients.
• Experience leading technically and advising clients on technical concepts.
• Deep understanding of Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Active Directory.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or ARM templates, and with CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of scripting in PowerShell, Python or Bash.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security concepts and best practices.
• Full professional proficiency in German and English, at C1 level minimum.
• AWS, Azure or GCP certifications are a plus.
• Nice to have: Azure, AWS or GCP certifications.
• Nice to have: experience with observability tooling such as Azure Monitor or Grafana.
• Nice to have: experience with multi-environment or multi-tenant cloud platforms.
• Nice to have: FinOps or cost optimization experience.
