AI Platform Engineer

The Data, AI & Analytics department manages the full data value chain, organises IT assets, and designs architectures and analysis methods that drive efficiency and innovation. Its work feeds directly into core business processes and the Group's strategy and growth.

You would join an agile team building scalable, demanding projects in AI platform engineering.

The team is developing the core AI building blocks behind LLMs, agentic AI and MCP servers, in a fast-moving environment focused on growth and new ideas.

Responsibilities

• Build core services for the AI platform, including self-service access to LLM gateways, MCP infrastructure and the lifecycle management of AI agents.
• Design and build platform capabilities that let product teams develop, deploy and run AI-powered applications at scale.
• Evolve the platform using user feedback, platform telemetry and input from stakeholders.
• Work with AI engineers, product teams and business units to deliver the next generation of AI-powered products across the company.
• Take part in architectural decisions and help set the platform's future direction.

Requirements

• At least 4-5 years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, backend engineering or a similar role.
• Strong software engineering skills and a solid approach to solving problems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with Python backend development, specifically FastAPI.
• Interest in AI and in building platforms that help AI adoption scale.
• A good grasp of software architecture and scalable system design.
• English at B2 level.
• Plus: experience with LLM-based applications, AI agents or MCP servers.
• Plus: familiarity with observability, monitoring and telemetry tools.
• Plus: experience with platform engineering and developer experience initiatives.
• Plus: experience with AI governance, security or cost management.

Conditions

The role is full-time, with a 4-day working week.

Total compensation ranges from €41,000 to €52,000 and includes a variable part tied to performance.

The work is hybrid, and you decide when to come into the office, going on-site when working with colleagues in person adds value.

The position is based in the Milan or Padua office.
