Description

The company is an award-winning consulting firm that uses technology to help clients reach their goals. Its business systems analysts work on a broad range of projects, from building custom digital products to large integration, modernization and enterprise transformation efforts across several systems, technologies and business lines.

This role suits someone who works comfortably between business and technology, handles uncertainty well, and approaches problems the way a consultant would. You will turn business goals into technical requirements, work closely with architects and engineers, and help teams make sense of complex systems, integrations and data. You stay involved across the full delivery lifecycle, guiding teams from unclear problems to solutions that scale and are easy to maintain.

You will learn quickly how clients operate, what their processes look like and what their technology landscape involves, so you can advise them and serve as a go-to partner for stakeholders. Clients include Fortune 100 companies, mid-sized enterprises and government agencies across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a core member of cross-functional teams at every stage of system delivery, from discovery through build and validation.
  • Elicit requirements through interviews, workshops and working sessions to uncover business needs and clarify what the solution should do.
  • Turn business objectives into detailed functional and technical requirements that feed architecture, development, testing and deployment.
  • Work with architects, engineers and product teams on solution design, including data models, API and integration requirements, interface definitions and system workflows.
  • Analyze current data structures, data quality and business impact, and help define how data will support future-state solutions.
  • Document data mappings, business rules, system interactions and upstream and downstream dependencies for complex integrations.
  • Balance business and technical views so that solutions are useful, usable, scalable and maintainable.
  • Assess current processes and systems, define the target state with stakeholders, and run gap analysis to propose options and recommendations.
  • Write and refine epics, user stories, acceptance criteria and backlog items within an Agile team.
  • Coordinate and support integration testing, system testing and user acceptance testing, including requirements traceability and validation.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, assumptions and impacts across business processes, systems and integrations.
  • Communicate with technical teams, business stakeholders and executives, adjusting your message to each audience.

Requirements

  • 3-10+ years working as a business systems analyst, technical architect or similar role on IT initiatives and enterprise-scale solution delivery.
  • Prior consulting experience or a proven record of working in a client-facing, advisory role.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-system implementations, enterprise applications and complex integrations.
  • Experience working alongside software development teams across the full software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience producing process flows, data flows, sequence diagrams, system context diagrams or other visual models of business and technical solutions.
  • Experience defining business rules, writing user stories, developing acceptance criteria and managing requirements in Agile settings.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, data flows and modern cloud-based architectures.
  • Ability to write and run SQL queries for analysis, troubleshooting, validation and testing.
  • Experience with data analysis, data mapping and requirements traceability across multiple systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working proficiency with delivery and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps or similar platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Preferred: experience supporting digital product development and product-centric delivery models.
  • Preferred: experience in regulated industries such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, financial services, healthcare or public sector.
  • Preferred: knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Salesforce or other enterprise business platforms.
  • Preferred: experience with cloud modernization, application modernization or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Preferred: familiarity with system architecture concepts, object-oriented design principles or software engineering practices.
  • Preferred: certifications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Scrum, Product Owner, CBAP, PMI-PBA or related credentials.
