Description

The company is a consulting firm that works with clients on technology projects, including Fortune 100 companies, mid-sized enterprises, and government agencies across the country.

In this role you work with business and technical stakeholders to shape complex solutions and make sure what gets delivered fits real business needs. Projects range from custom digital products to large integration, modernization, and enterprise transformation efforts that span several systems, technologies, and lines of business.

The role suits someone who works well at the boundary between business and technology, is comfortable with unclear problems, and approaches problems the way a consultant would.

You will quickly learn each client's business challenges, processes, and technology environment so you can serve as a trusted advisor and subject-matter partner.

You are a key contributor on cross-functional teams across the full system delivery lifecycle, from discovery through delivery and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Help gather requirements through interviews, workshops, and collaborative sessions to uncover business needs and clarify what the solution should do.
  • Turn business objectives into detailed functional and technical requirements that guide architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Work with architects, engineers, and product teams on solution design, including data models, API and integration requirements, interface definitions, and system workflows.
  • Analyze data to understand current structures, data quality, and business impact, and help define how data will support the future-state solution.
  • Document data mappings, business rules, system interactions, and upstream and downstream dependencies for complex integrations.
  • Make sure solutions are valuable, usable, scalable, and maintainable by connecting business and technical views.
  • Assess current processes and systems, define the desired future state with stakeholders, and run gap analysis to propose options and recommendations.
  • Write and refine epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items within an Agile delivery team.
  • Coordinate and support integration, system, and user acceptance testing, including requirements traceability and validation.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, assumptions, and impacts across processes, systems, and integrations.
  • Communicate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leaders, adjusting your message for each audience.

Requirements

  • Three to 10+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Technical Architect, or similar role on IT initiatives and enterprise-scale solution delivery.
  • Prior consulting experience, or proven ability to work in a client-facing advisory role.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-system implementations, enterprise applications, and complex integrations.
  • Experience working alongside software development teams across the full software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience building process flows, data flows, sequence diagrams, system context diagrams, or other visual models of business and technical solutions.
  • Experience defining business rules, writing user stories, developing acceptance criteria, and managing requirements in Agile settings.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, data flows, and modern cloud-based architectures.
  • Ability to write and run SQL queries for analysis, troubleshooting, validation, and testing.
  • Experience with data analysis, data mapping, and requirements traceability across multiple systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical people.
  • Proficiency with delivery and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Nice to have: experience supporting digital product development and product-centric delivery models.
  • Nice to have: experience in regulated industries such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, financial services, healthcare, or public sector.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Salesforce, or other enterprise business platforms.
  • Nice to have: experience with cloud modernization, application modernization, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with system architecture concepts, object-oriented design, or software engineering practices.
  • Nice to have: certifications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Scrum, Product Owner, CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar.
